Have any of you heard of fingerknitting? What you do is you get some yarn. And tie it around your pinkie finger. Then starting behind your ring finger weave it back and forth until you have two strings around each finger. One by one pull the piece on the BOTTOM of your finger over the top of your finger. Do this with all five and make sure that you only have one pice of yarn on all of your fingers. Then repeat the beginning process and weave another one string around all of your fingers so you the have two. Just try to find your nitch of it. I think it won't hurt if you do like one or two extra string around each finger to make it two or three you pul off. Just do it one at a time. Cant wait to here your thoughts.
We used to take an old spool and hammer 5 headless nails into one end and thread the yarn through the hole and then do as you describe. I made miles of cord that way. It could be stiched together to make a beannie.
Going to have my granddaughter read the finger knitting post-she is 13 years old and has knitted for years-she knits all kinds of things-thought she might find this fun.

My grandmother taught me! She called it a Corker. I knitted, what seems like miles, of cord and then made a round rug for my bedroom. Thanks for the memory!
