Letterboxing

Here is our Camper Stamp. We will use it while letterboxing. One pic is an ATC with the stamp image all colored in the other is a shot of the hand carved stamp the ATC and the tools used to make it.

Think we're obsessed?

Learn something new every day. I just learned a new word... I don't think I had ever heard what exactly this kind of carving was called. Now I know! Cool and thanks for sharing!

It's more than just carving, it's the fun of a treasure hunt to find hand carved stamps hidden in the woods all over the world. This hobby outdates geocaching by about 100 years. Check it out its a great excuse to hike an otherwise bland trail. But there are Letterboxes within a couple of miles of where any of you are.

ooooh so there's much more to it than just carving. Well, that's cool too. You're liable to make the geocachers jealous

We used to letterbox nearly 30 years ago, LONG before GPS and Geocaching. Darn, they were hard to find though. We had carved our own stamps. I had forgotten all about it.

yes i too letterbox.
donna theres some websites about it you might want to search out. you will find a list of letterboxes in your area with puzzling instructions on how to find them. great fun when you camp in anew area to find a box, and leave an image there from your home. and collect an image of their stamp to keep for ever.

It is a new one for me, too. One of the websites lists a letterbox site right next door to me. One of these days I'll hop the fence and go hunting.
