My latest Wood Working Project

This summer, we replaced the carpet in our house with hardwood flooring. When we finished, the stairway looked very tacky so I built a new balustrade. The picture, upper left is what I replaced.

Thanks folks, I have been working with wood using only 19th century hand tools since I retired. I have no need to redo the Scamp, two years ago, I replaced all of the Wood look materials with Cherry. My next project is a Scandinavian dowel tree made from Walnut for my daughter.

I have posted them here, and because, I used an iPad with very limited memory, had to remove them. (I have lost more pictures that way). They were backed up to an old Windows computer and a DVD. I will have to search.

No doubt about the learning! I taught high school shop from 1968 til 1972 when I retired from teaching. When I retired from industry in 2008, l decided that I wanted to learn wood working as it was done in the 19th century. This allowed me to build and work in a small (14'x14') shop, something not possible with a collection of power tools.

Great job on the stairs. Did mine in a very similar manner a year ago so I can really appreciate the work that you put into it.
