Thanks. It's a scan from an old 35mm camera.

Cool David.
Did you scan from a print or the negative? I find that scanning my "old" black and white could be a full-time job ... doesn't pay very well but nice benefits!

Lots of delightful shots in this thread. Thanks to everyone who has shared their images from here, there and everywhere.

Jon - I too like your first image - you really caught that wave at an excellent moment.

Doc - that is one fascinating shot.

Thanks D Davis, Carol and Hazel. I have some 11x18 and 16x24 prints ordered just to see how well the little RX-100 hangs at those sizes. 16x24 may be asking too much, but I have high hopes for the 11x18 print.

After getting home from that trip a few weeks ago I bought a mint Hassleblad 501CM and sold all my Canon EOS gear on eBay. The Sony is good enough to do what I need with digital, and affordable digital gear doesn't cut it for my fine art landscape work.

I know what you're thinking: "Hassleblad? Affordable?" Well, yes. With so many pros switching to digital used medium format gear is cheap. I picked up the Hasselbld kit for $1200 and sold my EOS gear for three times that. I also ordered everything I'll need to develop B&W film at home. Now I need a scanner for proofing my work. The good stuff will go off for drum scans.

Really nice work, all. I just added a couple of you as flickr contacts, in case you were wondering who the wildlife photo person was.

Last summer I had a peek out of our back window.

By coincidence, out on Lake Ontario were...

A. a luxury yacht
B. a lake freighter
C. a tall ship
D. a small speed boat
C. a sail boat.

You don't see that every day! LOL

Hey Doc have you ever loaded 120 film for processing? I suggest using a practice roll in the daylight to get the hang of it. You will be amazed at the quality of the Hassy! Enjoy and share your results with us.

I was a photojournalist in my younger days, owned a professional B&W darkroom, and have processed about 10,000 rolls of B&W film over the years. I spent the extra money on the Hewes reels. It has been 14 years since I've worked in a darkroom, but considering it took me two minutes to remember how to use the Hasselblad I don't think loading 120 film will be a problem, but I do plan to ruin a practice roll before loading film with images.

I am amazed at the quality of the Hassey. I guess I should have mentioned I used to own one and it was working with drum scans that convinced me to sell my EOS gear and go back to medium format film for my serious work.

Here's a photo I took on my earlier Hasselblad. Shot on Fuji slide dilm, drum scanned and converted to B&W in Lightroom, prepped for display in PhotoShop.

I went snow shoeing last weekend and came across a small stream with this in it. The whole place had fantastic ice cycle scenes. I would walk 10 feet, shoot, walk another 10 feet, shoot. The stream was on a hike to Zig Zag falls near Mt Hood.

Very nice Dan. The two spots in the ice that look 'lit up' are particularly appealing.

I'm always amazed when I'm reminded that there is flowing water in other places.

snow

It snowed again - 3 inches. Took this through the window with a Lensbaby. This guy on crutches was being VERY cautious as he made his way down the road.
