We would have loved to been at the NOG, we camped in the newer county campground up the road in May. Unfortunately, my elderly (89) mom was criminally exploited by a plumbing co. for a HUGE amount of $ and it consumed us for weeks to get it back, which we did (I can be VERY assertive, but it is exhausting).

We still hope to head south (CA) early Nov. with the Escape for a birthday trip to warm weather. Will be able to photograph some very different flora and fauna, and warmer beaches!

One more fall pic, looks like summer but these Red Admiral butterflies show up mid-September to feed on asters.

I made a trip to the Adirondacks last week - Unfortunately, it rained most of the time, but I got a few pictures:

Pixley Falls State Park

Christine Falls Stream

Nice job Jon! I like the Pixley Falls shot. Did you use a ND?

Thanks! Yes I used a ND filter & tripod. I have a Singh-Ray Vari ND filter, although is was so dark I barely had to change it from its lightest setting.

Wow! Great pictures, makes it look like a magical place, which it is! I remember going to the Adirondacks growing up back east, a gorgeous place in the fall!

Jon: I really love those reflective pictures -- they are like impressionist paintings -- wonderful colour and form! Thank you for posting them.

Jon you're making me wish I was back on the east coast this time of the year!

Below is not so much a fall color photo as a fall 'happening', the Elk (or Wapiti) moving down more frequently to the 'lower' areas. The first photo was taken last month, at dusk, very little light. This past Sunday we saw a different herd, gorgeous sunny day. You can view more of my elk photos here:

Wapiti

They are magnificent animals, it is a awesome to be in their presence - at a distance! They are funny to try to photo, being grazers, they are slowly moving almost constantly, head down, and they tend to put their backs to people watching. Many of my pictures turn out to be groups of elk rumps!

Jon, your Ricketts Glenn picture is about the best flowing water technique I've seen to date. The children make a great "people" shot. Well done on both. I hope you are entering these in your local camera club competitions.

Love the contrast on the road shoot between the trees and sky as well as the action in the lighthouse photo. Well done.

Monument Valley is an amazing place to visit. Took this sunrise image in October of 2010. It pays to get up early. Wish I had my SLR along on the trip. I took the picture with a little point & shoot camera.
