Trailer: Escape 13 ft 2010 ('Ladybug') / 2003 Subaru Forester

This picture is from Cathedral Grove, Vancouver Island. Exposure was 1/6 seconds at f/11 with ISO 200 using a tripod. Camera was Pentax istDS, lens was Tamron 35-210 mm, f/3.5-4.2. Date was Sept 27, 2007, before we took delivery of our fiberglass trailer.
Our recent trip to Silver Falls, OR shows us that trailering provides a great way of experiencing the wonders of nature and attempting to capture them with a camera.

Oh! Lovely Per. We are thinking of going there in a few weeks and your photo is enticing! Jon, your picture looks like an Americana painting! So crisp and good depth! Beautiful!
Most my photos are close-ups of Nature, which I use on cards I sell to stores and on-line, and post on my web sites, but I'll toss in Mt. Rainier, quintessential Washington! I use two small point and shoots, a Sony Cyber-shot, which is a cheap little camera (I've gone through two!) with a great Carl Zeiss lens, and a Cannon power-shot. I'm thinking of getting a better/larger camera so interested in what others like/use. I stay small because I like a camera in my pocket whenever I'm out for those unexpected moments.

I LOVE to take photos but prefer just to let the camera do the 'work' as very often the pictures I shoot are more 'spur of the moment' and the time involved to set the different settings, the image would be long gone before I got 'round to taking the picture.
Latest camera is a Nikon Coolpix P-90. Hardly a pocket camera but priced right for my/our needs.

Hi Penney,
Look into the Panasonic (yes that's right) Lumix point and shoot cameras. They have Zeiss lenses and are really quite good, with manual controls, 10-12 mp, and small and well designed.

In the spirit of the book "The Best Camera is The One You Have With You" ... http://photofocus.com/2009/09/29/mini-book...-have-with-you/
Here's one ...
taken with an old Olympus SuperZoom 3000 film camera and the print scanned. Luckily I had two frames left on the roll to get this.

Interesting test, Ron!
My results were not so great (12), but it would be interesting to have more data comparing various ages, etc. A Bell curve, maybe?

Hi Ron,
Thanks for posting this site. I had a pretty bad score of 80 which is almost my age.
Selling all my camera gear, taking up music as my new hobby.

Try doing the test on a newer, better monitor.
I am 47 and got a 22. Lots of people can get perfect 0.

I think the sleepy eyes might actually help. I was struggling with it and straining my eyes quite a bit until I took off my glasses (nearsighted). That made it quite a bit easier and I ended up scoring a four.

I defy anybody to take as many bad pictures as I have over the years!..It used to cost me money to see my struggling skills when they made you pay to develope etc...now at least i can view them ahead and hit the delete button .......sample from last week? okay....fuzzy enough?
