"Scootering" while camping
John recently started a post on "bicycling while camping" and received many notes from folks who bike. I wonder if anyone likes "scootering". I'm thinking of getting a quality adult-size foot-powered scooter (like a child's Razor) to ride while in camp. I do not want to carry the bulk of a bicycle which I know I would seldom use as I hike with my husband all day when camping. A scooter would still have the "fun factor" and (when folded) would be easy to pack. I don't need a top of the line X-Games type scooter, but one that is not junk either. Any suggestions or experiences to share?

Gilda, Costco was selling scooters such as what you are looking for. I noticed at the Bandon meet last summer a number of folks using them to scoot around the campground. Not much good on gravel or sand pathways though.

Thanks for the tip Carol. I did not see any on my recent trip to our COSTCO, perhaps they have them now for the holiday season.

Mine was a lot of fun when camping. Sad - it is now just sitting in a storage shed. I keep thinking we need to get it back into the garage so I can ride it to the train station and save on parking.
And bring it camping again.

I have heard that the Know-Ped is a very good scooter for adults. I enjoy riding my grandkids' razor scooters, and now you have me thinking of buying my own!!

Was looking for a new mojo to go along with all of my other, ahhhh, interests. Decided to buy a Know Ped through Amazon. Very happy with the purchase and after a bit of research, find that a whole culture exists around this enterprise. Go to LetsKickScoot and see what I mean.
As an avid inline skater, runner, and cyclist, I look forward to the ease of use of the Know Ped. It's really perfect for those 1-5 mile excursions and will certainly work well in a campground/resort with paved roads.

What a lot of fun. Have been researching which scooter is right for me. Thanks for that link Kevin. Not sure I would ever use one but the research process was good. Good to know the Know Ped is not for short person, etc. Have to check out Canal Park waterfront in Duluth and see if the bike rental folks rent scooters.
I wonder if an area says no skate boards if scooters are also not allowed.
