They want to buy our Airstream

I was surprised to get an email from a long time friend. She and her husband are planning to get into RVing and they new we had an Airtsream. She wanted to know if we were interested in selling it. I sent a note back with some pics and and est. of current market value and her note back was....

"we are very interested, in no rush to buy, let us know when you are ready to let it go."

Sooooo, something to think about. I have always been one to be flexible with my interests, ie... always used Canon cameras but just bought my first Nikon the other day, so not afraid to switch gears and try something different.

We now have to think about possible options. Keep it, a different Airstream, glass egg, hybrid, hummm....... needs some time to give it more thought.

Wayne. You have got to join us. What about a new Escape 21 won't be a lot smaller than your AS the you can come down the road and join us at the Niagara Wine Escape!

That's how we got our Casita. Camped with friends that had bought it two years ago to use on a seasonal site. Wife made the comment (as I'm cringing) "let me know when you decide to sell it" and my thought is "not for a long time please". That was this past June and in October they sent a message that the seasonal site thing wasn't for them and the Casita was for sale. Next problem was we needed a bigger tow vehicle. So after lots of stress and a pile of money we own a Casita 17 and a Dodge truck.

Hi: MC1... At Niagara Wine Escape we never turn away "Tin Can Tourists" even locals!!! LoL Last year we had a lady in an AS... and one tent camper in a Prius.

MC1/Wayne, You are now the proud owner of a classic Airstream...why sell??
If you have outgrown the Airstream then it might make sense to sell but otherwise I feel you might miss the classic once it is gone....just some food for thought.

This is the point where a pilot would be asking, "What is my current and/or
planned "mission profile" and how well does my current equipment fit that
profile?

If the Airstream still meets your needs, then maybe you should keep it.
(It is a beauty! )

However, if you would now like to travel farther, with a smaller tow
vehicle and less fuel expense, then maybe it might make sense to
make a change.

Only you will likely know your wants, needs, and constraints.

When our family was younger, we had V8-powered custom vans that we
used to haul Boy Scouts to events, kids & friends to soccer games and
school events, travel to Colorado snow skiing trips, etc. We also had a
StarCraft Starmaster21 pop-up.

We the kids left home, we sold our pop-up, drove minivans for a while,
and eventually downsized to smaller SUVs. At family gatherings, my kids
still often talk about the fun had on many trips in that pop-up camper.

When my son got a pop-up for his young family and we realized that we
were approaching retirement, my wife said "I really enjoyed camping and
would like to camp again but, I really don't want to put up with some of
the drawbacks of a pop-up camper. Isn't there any kind of enclosed
trailer that we could pull with our Honda CRV?"

She hoped to take grandkids on camping trips, take some trips to both
coasts, and revisit some of our favorite destinations from years past.

The limitations of our tow vehicle, the amount of sleeping space, and
our desire not to let fuel costs put a damper on our trip spontaneity
and travel adventures were just some of the considerations that led
to our current trailer.

In the future, our "mission profile" (and consequently our trailer and
tow vehicle) may change again? Who knows?

IMHO - You should own the equipment that provides you the most
happiness and best suits your current and planned travel wants/needs.

Just my 2 cents worth. As always, YMMV.

Wayne, Your active, (and appreciated) participation in this group implies that you're interested in fibreglass RV's. Maybe this is a "sign" that it is time to explore that interest.

Personally I am a fan of classic Trillium trailers, but that may be too big, (small?) of a step from your present trailer.

Wayne, it might be fun to post the same thing on the Airstream Forum and compare their reactions to ours.

Reactions here are all over the map. Sell, don't sell, out with the old, in with the new, don't sell the pillar of your life, etc. It's easy for us to opine. You're the only one that has money in the game. I'm sure you'll do the right thing.

Man that's one nice camper why in the heck would you want to sell it unless you want to go smaller.
If it was mine and I could afford to pull it I'd keep her!!!
