For sure Norm. And although they are in within the numbers they don't look all that comfortable to tow. We know a number of forum members have down sized from those kinds of rigs and they did so for that reason.

We're one of those people that downsized. We did it because the trip required a small vehicle capable of rough roads. We learned we were just as comfortable in a small rig, maybe more comfortable. Simply life was simpler in a smaller rig, secondarily it was less expensive.

Many of our older (older than us friends) and former big rig owners can see the value of a small rig. For them it's the ease of use, the ease of maintenance and the lower cost.

You must not drive that hemi much.

We burn about a 1000 gallons a year covering 25,000 miles, cost about $3,500.

If we had driven a 300 mpg vehicle, I would have used 84 gallons for a cost of $294, a savings of over $3,000. Nice to dream......

This is a prototype vehicle, vehicle cost is meaningless.

Last year I drove my truck about 3,500 miles. About 2,000 of that was towing the Scamp. Most of the rest was hauling 15 cords of firewood home from the farm.

I made a deliberate decision to move here, I used to walk to work every day, 1/2 mile each way. Sometimes my car wouldn't move for 2 or 3 months at a time. Now I work from home, so no commute. If I need something right here in town, I almost always walk or ride my bike, or schedule a quick stop when I'm out running.

I paid cash for the truck, I budget $100/month for maintenance, and my insurance is very low, even with full coverage.

Leaves more money for traveling and enjoying life!
