Vintage RV Ads
Ran across these old RV ads lately. Back in the early 60's my dad had an RV sales business and he was the first to import and sell Apache tent trailers in Canada.
Also thought this AD of the Charger RT was very cool towing the Airstream.
Any more vintage ads out there. Would luv to see!!!

Ads
I like the vintage ads.
I have several ads from my dads auto repair/gas station.
I do remember these cars-you could always tell one car from the other-they didnt look alike.
Good ole days!

The vintage adds are cool.
I've noticed that television adds where travel trailers are used all the trailers are Airstream.

Thanks for posting those! They bring back fond memories. My dad would rent tent trailers back in the 60's from Ray Lankto, the fellow that owned the Rambler garage in Massena, right across the St. Lawrence from Cornwall Ontario. Then off we would go with a tent trailer behind the Rambler station wagon.
One of my great uncles had an RV rental place in Halifax NS back in those days too.
Isn't that a Falcon in the 1st ad with the tent trailer?
Frank

Frank. I'm thinking that is a Buick of some kind in the pic but this old ad from the mid 60's shows a Falcon, "rag top no less".....

Ya know, now that I click on it and look closer, maybe you're right. It's those round taillights that remind me of the old Falcons.

I think that the car pulling the Apache trailer is a Non-Make. An artists concept that is part Oldsmobile and part Fluglewagen..... Just so they don't get in a fuss with GM.

My best guess is a 1961 Buick Le Sabre due to the fender style, but the tail lights weren't round. I seem to remember that some ads had to skirt copyright laws. Maybe the Apache company didn't want to pay Buick a royalty for using their likeness...

Pretty sure that's a Lincoln Continental, 1962 or 1963. With the (in)famous suicide doors. Notice the door handles are located next to each other.

And that Falcon is riding mighty low in the back.

The car pulling the apache is a 1961 Oldsmobile.
The car next to the 64/65 Falcon is an early/mid 60"s Lincoln.
The stock Falcons were kind low in the back by design and style
(remember aftermarket shackle extensions and reversed shackes in the late sixties).

Hi: floyd... #2 looks like the front end of a Plymouth Horizon also. I didn't know cars like that could pull the "skin off rice pudding" let alone a trailer!!!

That was the mission of the 13 Scamp from the beginning...
The Lima 2.3L/4spd manual would handily out run and out pull the 2.8L which was only offered with an automatic trans and (I think a 3:00 differential).
Most likely the one pictured is a 2.3.
If you found that interesting...Remember that the Lynx pictured was only available with a 1.6L 4cyl ( It's a Hemi!)
BTW; I pulled my open car trailer with a Ranger equipped with the Lima 2.3L engine... A 13 Scamp would certainly be no challenge.
I have towed my Scamp 13D for 7 years so far with an Escape 2.3L Duratec engine, including trips to both coasts with satisfactory performance and great fuel economy.

Floyd... For a short time I had a 1971 Pinto. It had the 2.3 with a 4 speed manual. When the trans went south I put in a 302/4V, 4 speed top loader.
Note... I believe the 2.3 was a popular engine used in the smaller open wheel'd race cars.

Not to get too wonkish but the 1971 Pinto was available only with a 1.6L Kent engine or the 2.0L German engine.
The American made 2.3L Lima Engine was introduced for the 1974 model year. The 2.0L was phased out that year.
If yours was a 2.3L then it was the result of a previous engine swap.
I have a 1980 sedan which began life as a 2.3L automatic.
I switched to an SVO turbo with BW 4spd, later a T5.
It presently has a FMS 5.0L with a T5 and is patiently waiting for a return to the street.

Your car sounds very interesting. I think you are right about my 71 having the 2.0 now that I dig deep into the memory bank...LOL
When I took it out of the Pinto I also recall a guy picking it up for his old 1920's Ford.
