During July, my lovely wife Margarita and I took a 6,000 mile motorcycle trip on our 2008 Honda GoldWing. We live in Southern California and wanted to explore the western US and some of BC Canada so we traveled up the west coast into British Columbia staying in Napa, Crescent City, Salem, Surry, Kamloops, Nelson then back into the US. We visited Idaho, fly fished in Montana and visited Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and then headed home. Heading north we hit 1000 miles of rain at 48 degrees F and then three thunderstorms going through New Mexico and Arizona. We were dressed for the weather and stayed dry. What a great adventure it was!
Being on one motorcycle, 2 inches apart for 18 days, gave us a lot of time to talk (intercom and XM stereo radio). We saw many places we wished we could stop but every day was booked and we had to keep going ...we were going to average 325 miles per day. Numerous times we said we wished we could camp over there, or over there...and just stop and call that beautiful place ours for the next several days.
It was then we started talking about purchasing a trailer so we could really enjoy the outdoors like we wanted to. When we got home we did some investigation and soon ordered a very customized 19'
Escape...to be delivered around October 18th...in about three weeks. We are really excited and have booked a week at Pismo Beach in California over the Thanksgiving week for our first trailer camping trip. We have been reading a lot on this site and others learning a little here and there to help us out.
We will still have our motorcycle trips but we are ready for whole new outdoor adventure!
