I brought this up out of the archives for Nancy and updated the links. If you know of anything interesting to do around Bandon, please post and links to websites for more information is always a good thing. 228 days to the Oregon Gathering... and counting down!

We hiked here last year with Rich and Deb. South Slough National Estuary . Spectacular scenery, easy hike. You can paddle here too, but they recommend a guide or really good maps and tide tables (so you don't get stranded on the mud flats! ).

Oh my. We drove past South Slough twice but did not drive in.

Click on Maps and Directions and then click on Site Brochure.

We are suppose to be done with the Oregon coast. Just might have to go back.

Donna, please add that link to the other attractions, I am so sad we did not venture in.

Talking

I had a good time at the Oregon Coast Historical Railway Museum in Coos Bay last year.

My wife, Sandy, who is an avid quilter, gave the forget-me-knots Quilt shop a "two thumbs up" after we stoped in during the 2009 Oregon Gathering, also.

We also enjoyed breakfast at a small, but very busy, family owned and operated cafe down in the heart of the old town (after passing through the Bandon street arch). Don't remember the name, but we thoroughly enjoyed each breakfast, and it looked like half of Bandon ate there also.

Try the Crab shack! it's great. Vicki had a smoked salmon sandwhich and I a crab sandwhich and Corona. Highly recommend! Oh yea the guys at Napa were very helpful with a pesky fuel problem I had with my 56. Just a bunch of nice folks in Bandon

Hello All -

Has anyone done much kayaking in the area? We have flat water kayaks, so looking for protected and calm waters.

Thanks,

Randall and MK Pearl

I hope the local chapter of the Oregon Olde Time Fiddlers put on a show again this year in the campground amphitheater. We had a great time. I took some short video clips and turned them into a DVD and sent them a couple of copies, but I haven't heard back from them.

Randall,

Bradley Lake, 4 miles of Bandon is small but scenic. The Coquille river, inland, offers some gentle river kayaking. The Boat Harbor in Bandon to Bullards Beach State Park (2 miles one way) is among the most scenic sections of the Coquille River. In the Bandon area, the wind is allways the great unknown. I am in site B-14.
Let me know if any of these areas sound interesting.
