1975 Scamp 13'

It looks like Sunday I will be making an offer on this 1975 Scamp 13'. Here are some pictures https://plus.google.com/photos/10250...62878278511649

I had a local RV service company check out the floor and thankfully it's in good shape - I will probably spend some time sanding/sealing that and the frame so it doesn't get worse throughout the years to prevent replacement for as long as possible. It just needs some bolts by the door from what the service tech shared, and a new battery.

I plan to be towing it with my automatic 2009 Subaru Forester. I was wondering if this trailer comes with brakes or not? Also, I keep seeing varying reports of the weight - anywhere from 900-1400 pounds. This comes with a removable portable toilet, but not shower. Seems like a pretty basic model. What can you tell me?

Hi Brenda! to FiberglassRV. We're glad you're here

Thanks for sharing the pictures, looks like the Scamp has nice bones and if you make the purchase, you'll make many happy camping memories.

You're going to find lots of kind and helpful people here at FiberglassRV. If you're asking about weights, one of the best threads is here: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...rld-43010.html Remember, the amount of "stuff" people take camping is subjective! The only absolute way to know what the trailer you're looking to buy... is to weigh it.

Brenda, welcome!!
It won't take long until you will make it your own These little eggs are like time capsules - you fill them with memories! One thing to know is that the little black metal supports at the end of the upper cabinet are truly 'structural supports' for the roof. Don't remove them unless you replace them with something else. These campers are pretty indestructible. Looking forward to seeing more pics once you make it 'your own'.

Wow, it looks to be in great shape for a camper this old.

It is riding a little low, so you may want to see if the axle has collapsed. To do this, have someone jump up and down inside while another person looks at the suspension arm. If all the motion is in the tire sidewall flexing you may need a new axle (about $600-ish). It probably did not come with brakes, but you can order a new axle with brakes for just a little more.

Welcome and good luck!
