1980 Acorn -new owner

Hi,
New owner of a vintage Scamp here. It's the Acorn from 1980. 16ft. Wonder why they actually called it that during the years of the Scamp lawsuit? Were they calling the whole mess nuts? Could be.
Our little Nutsoid needs some major work done but we hope in a couple of years she'll be shiny and bright. If we don't give up half way there.
This is a great "society" of scamping folks and we hope to learn a lot.

We're retired but busier now than when we worked! All of you youngsters out there take that as a warning. Nothing much to add except we'll go scamping when Nutsoid is done, along with our two dogs!
I'm planning on heading over to the other forums right now to start learning what I need to know.

Question Acorn Air Vent on roof

Redoing a 1980 Acorn 16ft. And I'm new at this.
One of the first things I need is a simple overhead vent assembly for the roof. On our previous campers it was used simply as an air vent and not as an escape. Anyway, the size of the opening on the roof is 14.5" x 14.5". I can find vent units that will fit, however, when everything is put together it appears the unit is too thick and a lot of the unit will be protruding down from the ceiling. It would not end up flush with the ceiling. The roof on these campers is not thick.
I've seen inside trim to actually bring the inside area down further but what can you do if the original unit is just too thick or high?
Any help with this first of probably many questions would be greatly appreciated.
