Another New Mexican

I just purchased a 1986 Casita (16') and was wondering how many others on these forums are owners of 25+ years old fiberglass campers. In reading most of the posts, I see a lot of great advise that will help me but there are issues relating to the "antiques" that don't apply to newer trailers.
It is great to see all the help available here and in the Casita group.

Could we have a show of hands?

Nick

Hi Nick, welcome to FiberglassRV. Give me a year... my trailer is 24 years old... but, I'm much older!

What issues are you running into? I haven't had any problems other than maintenance issues and those are common for all years of trailers.

Cool A good subject

I noticed some RV parks stating "No Rig older than 10 Years allowed."

How do you older trailer owners get beyond that?

I believe most parks with that rule use it to deny entrance to rigs that look bad enough to create an eyesore. No one has ever asked us for date of manufacture when registering. Our trailer just turned 11, but we will try to keep it shiny enough so it doesn't look its age.

We have also stayed in places that forbid alcohol, but we didn't pour out our beer and wine before entering.

I haven't run into any place with a trailer age requirement but doubt that they check registration for age. I agree that it is most likely to keep eyesores away.

Thanks everyone for weighing in with the older rigs. I see there is a lot out still on the road that are much older than mine. Great to see.

¡Hola! from Las Cruces, New Mexico. Welcome to the Forum. Seems there are many with older trailers around, but ours isn't. They really seem to keep on ticking.

PS: Nick, From what I have read in a couple or four Forums, if you get over into Arizona (Snowbird RV Parks) you will find the age restricting requirements.

The colour is a highly metallic pink and it wasn't my choice. When I met him he was driving the same colour 55 Chev. His choice alone. It has won a lot of trophy's so I guess it was a good decision.

Mine is 1984 (28yrs old). The beauty of these FGs is that they have a design that is so different, they never look 'dated'. They just look 'different'. If it is kept clean and in good repair, they don't look old.

Nick,

1990 Casita...now completely redone. (If that's possible.)
