buying camper in Canada?

Was wondering about buying a camper in Canada and getting it back across the boarder and getting it titled in the US. Has anyone done it or is it to much trouble? Can it even be done?

If you are buying an Escape (very highly recommended), the process couldn't be any simpler or easier. At the border, present the paperwork provided by Escape. The agent checks the VIN number and you on your way.

Totally easy!!
Border crossing folks were far more interested in the 6-pack of canadian beer I had in my cooler than the brand spanking new Escape I was towing. Escape folks provided all the necessary documentation - it would be good to get a couple extra 'original sales' documents from whoever you get your trailer from because you might need an extra for registration in the US. Also, remember to get the Sales Tax refund papers (online or from the border crossing folks) so that you get a refund on the Canadian Tax you pay.

I do not believe that Canadian tax is assessed when the bill of sale shows a destination outside of Canada. However, if any work done on an Escape in Canada, e.g., brake work, then HST tax would be imposed.
