Hello all. I am new to this forum. Looking to sell the brick and sticks and workamp with spouse. We are considering the Egg camper and the Scamp 5th wheel. Could use some input to compare and contrast both to each other.

I can tell you about the EggCamper but not the Scamp except to say that any Scamp I've seen feels cramped inside compared to the EggCamper which is a bit taller and wider inside. I think probably it's that way because the designer/company owner is about 6'4" tall. Also the toilet /shower is in the front while the dinette is on the side. The dinette will sleep one. We bought our EggCamper as all electric and just had a furnace & cooktop installed for use in colder weather or where no electric is available. The factory did have a propane option but there have been some reports that propane is no longer available. It tows very well. We've towed with a Chrysler minivan, (V6), a Chevy pickup (V8), and now a Buick Enclave (V6). Pretty much the same mpg no matter the tow vehicle. If you've looked at the EggCamper website and still have questions, give Jim Palmer, company owner, a call and ask your questions. All that said, Scamp is a well regarded product and the owners seem happy with them.

Workamping? For week-in week-out living, I believe I would prefer the Scamp 5er. Place to put all those worklothes; sleeping quarters out of the way. All other things being equally unequal of course. If you need propane for heat, hot water and cooking because you anticipate siting without electricity, you might as well buy the trailer so equipped. That would be Scamp. If you already have a full-size pickup, that might push you toward the Scamp 5W. I wouldn't want to do year-round in cold climates with either one.

Hi Alfred, welcome to FiberglassRV... we're glad you're here

I strongly suggest you personally view the brand(s) of trailer you're interested in before you buy (new). Nothing, absolutely nothing, beats seeing with your own eyes.

Check out the Rallies forum to see if there's any close to you happening soon. Owners love to show off their rollin' homes.

Also, manufacturers have lists of owners that are willing to show their trailers to prospective buyers. Call and find out if there's anyone in your area.

Another consideration is what you want to pay? Are you ordering new or would you like to get broken into fiberglass in as inexpensive way as possible. There are 30 years of used Scamp 5th wheels out there so undoubtedly that would be your least expensive option.
