Connecticut Newbies Seeking Mentor(s)

Hi, we're Skip and Betty from Branford.

We're completely inexperienced and think we want a FGRV (they look so cool) but don't really know a thing about them.

Would love to meet experienced owners in CT, look over your rig, and ask a lot of dumb questions.

Does this sound like anybody's idea of fun? I hope?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome aboard ! I am an experienced FORMER owner of a Uhaul CT 13. I am up near Hartford. We were ALL newbies once. Kudos to you for your willingness to ask the "dumb" questions, because A.) There is no such thing as a stupid question and 2.) That's part of the learning experience. Good luck with your quest.

welcome, skip! it IS fun to share the many pros of owning a fgrv....i am hopeful that someone near to you will contact you to offer their expertise.
however, an alternative is to attend a rally, there should be one near to you somewhere this spring/summer. it's a perfect opportunity to ask a myriad of questions, to tour a variety of different fgrvs and also, to feel more comfortable with the whole idea of adopting a unit of your very own.
good luck and we're glad you're here!

We camp in CT, but won't be there until June at Rocky Neck state park. You're welcome to look at ours.

There's a map of Escape owners posted over at their forum... link to map

You might try joining up there and looking for owners in Connecticut. I think that most signed up on the map are willing to show their trailers and talk to folks even if it doesn't result in a sale of that particular brand.

I don't know of anything like that map covering other/all brands, though I've often thought it would be pretty cool to have one at this site too, hint, hint...

Hmmmm, do you think there should be different colored bubbles for different brands? Lengths? I think that might get complicated if we tried to do brands that way. Maybe a map like theirs just with different colored indicators for different length eggs would be easiest?

Got me thinking about trying to set it up.

I was just thinking of a "Fiberglass RV members map". No specific brands on the map...that info could be there when one clicks on the little map icon, I guess.

Hi Skip and Betty,

We am not from CT, but live in MA just over the RI border and if that is not too far, you are welcome to look at our Casita.

Thanks for your reply!

Sounds like you might not be too far off our customary route to Boston to visit my son and granddaughter.

How about we check in with you when we know when we will be doing that again?

Try contacting Jean-L Fiberglass RV - View Profile: JEAN-L
He is about 45 Min from you. Knowledgeable about FG trailers and usually proud to show off his boler American. He posts little, but reads a lot and analyzes every picture for the details. Tell him I sent you.

HINT ... If you click on "community" above then "members list", you can then do an advanced search for members by state or other options. That might also give you a clue as to who is close.
