It looked like a really nice trailer. I believe I placed the very first bid. I maxed at 5k knowing it would go higher. I currently have an 84 Scamp 19 I'm going to be selling with the new style hitch that fits into standard bed rails. I just bought a little Bigfoot B17 CB. I bought a new truck and didn't want to drill a bunch of holes in the bed and I only need a trailer to travel up and down the coast from Spokane to Vegas in the fall and back again in the spring. I need my bed open to bring stuff back and forth. I will miss my Scamp though.

Awesome. Yeah that makes sense. I'm really excited about it. I almost went travel trailer but really fell in love with the Scamp 5th wheel a few years ago.

I've been tempted several times to get a 5-er! Lots of room in a small package

Hi Pam, yes. One of the things that sold me on it was just how everything I read about them was positive. Layout, space, drive stability, etc.. I don't really come across negative feedback over the course of the 3 years I looked.

Juan, the only thing I see folks really talking about with the 19 is the hitch as it's not the normal 5th wheel hitch. I think that a problem with that would only come into play if you needed roadside towing for your tug and 5er. I agree with Pam, the 5er gives you a lot more room and if my lumber rack wasn't so much of a PITA to remove.........

......on the other hand, as has been mentioned on a few occasions on this forum, the non-standard hitch might be considered an anti-theft device.

Yeah that is true! Anyone have an idea how common RV theft is?

Haven't seen any general data on RV thefts. I'd say small egg trailers are more of a target than stickies. It's not uncommon to hear about 1 or 2 a year involving the FGRV community- either their own, someone they know, or someone in their area.

So, common enough to take sensible precautions, but not something to lose sleep over.
