Some where in CA there's another one of these trailers. We came across this one in Oatman, AZ

Ha! I remember that day in Oatman. We were coming back from MO. The wife wanted to take old 66 and we had never even heard of Oatman, but were sure glad we did. Fun, fun day and trip. What a surprise to recognize the pic. I was just trying to get some ideas of what restored Trail Mites looked like when I spotted these pics. What a hoot!

Butyl tape is much better product to use for sealing, easy to remove and works just as well as silicone without the mess. All sealants will eventually fail, when they do fail I for one would like something that is easy to remove so that I can easily re-seal.
This trailer had GOBS of silicone all over it, including holes filled where the entire interior was removed and GOBS around the windows and vents.
After cleaning and prep, it took Perma-White paint very well....
I will continue to use silicone where appropriate.

Cool. That stretch of 66 from Kingman to Oatman is pretty interesting. I assume you were in Oatman for the gun fight and the burros. We were camped down the road outside of Bull Head City at Katherine Landing. Hope you had a great trip.

Zach, I too am restoring a 72 Trail Mite. I want to replace the frame, but cannot find out how the plywood floor is attached to the steel below.

Any clues?
