Though this may be so, you may have been fortunate not to have met a situation in which brakes
would have been helpful.
Regardless, when thinking about brakes
, consider that without them you are stopping the weight
of the TV and the trailer with the TV brakes, which puts additional load on the TV brakes, requiring them to be replaced more frequently. Brake shoes and drums for a trailer are generally much cheaper than auto brake pads and rotors, so over the life of the combination, you will likely save money and have the extra assurance of trailer brakes in emergency situations.
