Greetings from Montana

Hello - this is my first post. My wife and I are soon to experience another first... becoming egg owners! Last week we made the plunge to purchase a new 17' Casita SD, to be picked up later this spring. As life-long tent campers, this will be quite a transition for us. However, we're positive that exciting adventures await us. Hopefully we will cross paths with some of you in our travels. Thank you for the wealth of information that you provide in this forum.

Did you have it custom built or buy off lot?

It will be custom built, though I understand that Casita may have some new trailers available at this time.

to the forum. I'm just making the tent to egg transition myself. MT's a beautiful state. You probably have lots of opportunity to camp nearby when not "officially" on the road.

Welcome, I love camping in North West Montana. How exciting a brand new egg and not too long to wait.
We made the transition from tent camping last year and I smile everytime I lie down on the bed!

Hi Craig,
Having just gone through the "waiting for the new trailer to be built" I can tell you it's a wonderful experience!
Best wishes,
Phil

Welcome to the forums. You will find tons of great people here all of which are very helpful, you must be very excited getting a new egg. How fun. I just got my Casita (used) a little over a week ago. We have been doing lots to fix it up. It's been alot of fun but already it is feeling like my cozy little home away from home! Enjoy your egg, i hope you will post pics.

Thanks for the kind greetings!

I appreciate the warm welcome to this forum and to the world of fiberglass eggs. It appears that a lot of you are recent "tent to trailer" converts, too, so I guess we all start out as trailer neophytes at some point! I'm encouraged that many of you are from northern states (even other Big Sky Country folks!) and Canada, so I guess there's a good chance I'll run into fellow "eggers" while camping. Can't wait... I'm afraid my level of concentration on other matters just won't be the same until pick-up day this spring!

Sure is nice to be able to go to bed when the only setting up required is unlocking the door. Have fun with it.

Thank you all for the kind welcome to the forum and to the world of fiberglass eggs! We look forward to joining your ranks. Happy news: we pinned down an actual "pick up" date for our new Casita this morning. Now the hard part... getting through the Montana winter (however mild it is this year) and waiting until May! Oh well, as they say: "The good things in life are worth waiting for!"

oooh a May pickup date is good! It's the beginning of the camping season in a lot of the country. Cool, cool, cool!

Yes, we previously had a tentative date set for late March, but the weather and road conditions in Montana can definitely be "iffy" that time of year. Although this year has been extremely mild (temperature and snow), we decided that the extra wait was a small sacrifice for the potential anxiety of towing in bad weather. After all, this is supposed to be FUN, right ?!?

Hi: Craig in MT... I know you will enjoy the fast setups. We can be in the zero grav's. cracking a cold one in under 15 min's. Be warned tho that when you stop for lunch in a Wallo Mart parking lot etc. there will be lots of lookers on and tourists too!!!
