hello from michigan

i tried this earlier but i must have messed up as i don't see my post.

john here from oxford michigan. just ordered my new scamp13 yesterday and will pick it up march 19th.
we currently camp in a home built teardrop i originaly built for my dog and i to go squirrel hunting with. momma said she needs a little more comfort to travel , so scamp was our choice.

see a lot of michiganders here, hope to get together some time for a gathering.
algonac state park is reall nice for those, camp on the st clair river and watch the freighters go past.

Holland Tulip Festival

Have any of you Michiganders ever been to the Holland Tulip Festival or have any information?
My wife mentioned the other day she might want to go . After 42 years of marriage I know what that means "We're Going" . I am also concerned about weather being that the festival is in early May and Holland is on the East side of Lake Michigan. I did a search on the Fiberglass website but didn't find much info so anything you can tell me will be of help .

Thanks Steve Dunham

it can be cool and rainy,,, but i have to tell you,,, the whole town is dripping with tulips. its beautiful. and you go to the dutch village thing and they have windmills,,,and everyone (read that pretty girls) are dressed in traditional dutch clothing. theres really a bunch to do and see. you can even get a pair of traditional dutch wooden shoes made for you.

i'm going in my new scamp. maybe we will see you there.

Oxford's not too far from me (south of Flint). Come by Milford in the spring for the vintage sticky campout, and you'll also see several FG's, mine being one of them! Welcome to the group
The tulip festival is a fun event. I've been there when it's drizzly, and when its sunny and hot (eh, its Michigan). But its always fun and the west side of Michigan is lovely all along the coast.

John, welcome to the club! We're on the West side of the state and have a 13' Scamp also.

Steve, Tulip time is gorgeous and a fun experience. Although I will admit that a lot of us locals plan vacations around that time due to the number of visitors. If you are into bands, they have a big parade of bands. I even marched in it during high school. There is plenty to do in the area. We usually camp every year in Holland State park. There are great bike paths, long beaches, beautiful sunsets, and I love the old cottages (if you are into architecture). Oak Grove campground is down the street and has full hookups if you prefer. We stay there because we can camp while I go to work. Vacation without vacation time. Let me know if you have specific questions.

We're also on the west side, just far enough inland that there's very little lake effect snow. Of course, we don't care about snow since we're in AZ right now. It would be nice to have a west side get together somewhere sometime. Anyway, welcome.

Hi John, as I type this message I see you already have 37 posts so I don't know if I've already welcomed you to FiberglassRV. If not, then WELCOME. We're glad you're here.

Please post pictures when you get your egg and congratulations!

we will be going to the up , near taquaminin falls this summer.

hi donna,,, yes i tend to have a say in all sorts of things so i post a lot.

i'm what you call an expert.....ex+has been
Spurt= drip under preasure

one of our first trips i have planned will be on the black river up in the tip of the mit. will be guarding the sturgeon as they swim upstream to spawn.
am planning on being there from may 19th t0 the 25th.

the sturgeon live to be 150 years old and can grow to 9 foot and 200 pounds.
they spawn for the first time when they are about 17 years old , then once every 3 or 4 years.
this makes them very suseptable to poaching , so we camp by the river and gaurd them.

look up "sturgeon for tommorrow" to find out if you would like to join us .
great camping and a good time to watch nature come alive.

Sounds like there might be enough of us in Michigan to hold our own mini rally.
