Hello from the Oregon Coast!

Hello there all!

We're Patrick & Marie, from the Southern Oregon Coastline.

A few years back, we went to the Bullards Beach Fiberglass Rally, as we've been long time campers, and thought we'd come check these things out.

Now, we've had motorhomes, TT's, teardrops, & canned hams...and have enjoyed them all. We've made some wonderful family memories and had some really good times.
But after seeing her first Casita, and doing some research and learning the benefits of them, my wife has become like a dog with a Frisbee about owning one...she just wouldn't let loose of the idea!

I was making my usual rounds through Craigslist one morning acouple weeks ago, and I was just about to shut 'er down and head to work, something told me to do one last search under Casitas.

Well, lo and behold, there was an add for one that had just been posted. One that within a relatively close enough driving distance, one that was a 17 footer (I'm on the tall side and required that extra height), and one we could actually afford (always the unicorn! $$$)

So we made our initial contact, only to discover that someone was already on their way to check it out!! Nooooo!!!!
I think I chewed through all my fingernails waiting for the call back to see if it sold or not!

It turned out that the people were only out kicking tires, and yes, it was still available. (we weren't gonna drive 5 hours each way to find that it had just been sold without a green light)
So the next day, off we went.

He shoots...he SCORES!!
Not only was it in really nice condition for it's age, was completely tricked out with many of the add-ons we had in mind to do...but it was even a Spirit Deluxe...the exact model we had wanted to get! WOO-HOO!!! Plus, the folks we bought it from were just lovely, and I like dealing with kind people.

SO, we are the new owners of an '05 Casita, and couldn't be more thrilled! Heck, my wife is stoked even more than I am!!

We're off in 3 days for our first weekend trip in her (also our anniversary), and are also signed up for the Bullards Beach rally in July (got the 1 and only spot left available!)...but we'll be using it a lot long before then.

We're glad to be here, and looking forward to meeting you all out on the road!

oh...and a pic

Welcome Patrick,
You may want to check into this get-together coming up in a few weeks if it would work for your schedule. There'll be LOTS of fiberglass trailers at this one, including yours truly.

Your story sounds just like ours except for location. We drove from Fort Bragg, CA to Payson, Arizona to pick up our 2009 SD in 2013. Absolutely mint with only 500 miles on it. We love it.

Thanx Dave & Paula

we used to pull a traditional teardrop behind our old hot-rod panel truck, (which we loved), and made it a mission to camp at every OSP we hadn't been to yet. We got quite a lot of them in too...but there are so many in this state we've yet to visit.

Now that we've got the Casita, I guess we'll just have to resume our checklist! (oh darn!)

Funny you mention that, as I have to make a run up into WA to bid on acouple different jobs, and could schedule it in to coincide with this gathering

I'll see what I kin do to squeeze it into my already nutty schedule. (Maybe just one night wouldn't be too bad!)

First weekend is in the bag!

Went down to Valley of the Rouge State Park for a quick 2-day break-in run.

We had a great getaway, the weather was beautiful
and everything went pretty good, except that when we hooked up to shore water, our water pump started leaking all over the trailer!
I guess that since this has been sitting for a few years, the seal in it likely went bad.

So we had no running water, and had to resort to using the campground's shower & bathroom facilities.

I now have a project to do before the next trip in just a few weeks, getting this water system squared away, so that kinda sucks, but it's still not too bad.

Oh, and even though my wife gave this trailer a good, through cleaning before we headed out, one of the previous owners must have had dogs in it, as her allergies came to life and she spent the weekend sneezing. We're gonna pull EVERYTHING out and meticulously clean every square inch in here too.

We still love it, we're still happy with the purchase, and see many more miles and trips in our future!
