Hello, I'm Jeff from TN
I am new to the forum and searching for a fiberglass camper. I've had several stick built travel trailers in the past, all the disposable kind. My wife and I have decided fiberglass is the way to go and have narrowed our search down to a Trillium or similar. My wife wants jalousie windows and I want something small, lightweight and maneuverable with no bathroom. We are thankful for the wealth of knowledge and experience on this forum...it's been a huge help in our search.
We have looked at three Trilliums recently, 1 in AL and 2 in NY. We have seen rotten floors, excessively sagging doors, shade tree cabinetry, bad axles, slathered silicon, and poor fiberglass work but have not given up hope.
Still searching...
Jeff

Hi Jeff! If you don't mind the drive, look at the Minnesota and Wisconsin Craigslist adds. There are several listed.
Of course, if you have the coins to drop, Oliver Trailers are made right there in Hohenwald, TN and will be glad to connect you to someone near to you so you could see one up close. Check their website.

Welcome. Just thought I'd let you know that our 1982 Scamp also has the jalousie windows, so that might open your search a bit wider, as well. We love them an can't imagine having any other kind of window. We had them all open for air this past weekend while playing cards inside during a torrential rain. Good luck on the search!

Thanks for the tips. I'll take a look at Scamps as well. I had the opportunity to walk through a few Olivers recently. They were first class but a bit more than I wanted to spend and tow at this point. I will also check the mid west Craigslist listings as suggested. We will be heading out on a road trip to Washington state and the west coast in two weeks. I'll be checking the local listings as we go.
Thanks for the advice...it is appreciated.

Jeff....You may not have seen this...but here's one in your backdoor!! (not sure where in Tn you're located but this area is considered "Middle Tennessee".) I've personally camped with these folks and the trailer is in A-1 condition being garage-kept!! If you talk to them, tell'm ole Darral sent you by. You can PM them or contact me in a PM and I can get you their contact info if you want to pursue it.
EDIT: The seller "msawil" just posted below this. But this link will still take you to their Scamp.

Works the same for cabinetry
Definition of shadetree mechanic
a hobbyist mechanic who works on their own vehicles, often in their driveway. (Perhaps underneath a tree providing shade) and often causing more harm than they repair.
Although there are many people on this forum who have done brilliant work, there are also many stories of people who buy trailers to find botched work that causes major rework. Can you say "silicone sealant?"

likeair2me--thanks for the explanation! So fast, too!
Sure, I get it! At some point if one does enough shade tree work, one might get good at it...or if one is ultra careful to start with and does enough reading/taking advice, etc. but then there's the old, "Hey, we have a plastic milk carton here, let's screw it to the wall!" kind of thing or "You think that old plywood behind the shed from the burnt-out post office is still OK? We can scrape off the moss and stick it in here..."
Paul and I no doubt have done our share of shade tree fixes... I like to think there's a line somewhere that distinguishes shade tree from "brilliantly innovative..." but maybe it's no where near us...
Galley in Peanut...combo of shade tree work, perhaps, and original.
(Galley was first part finished...we had to start somewhere.)
My best to Jeff Richards; hope you find the perfect thing; looks like lots of possibilities. I knew we looked diligently, jumped fast, worked hard, and paid more than we'd hoped...but it came out well in the end.
Kai

I hope you all will forgive Kai.
Here in the northwest, we still haven't seen the sun yet this year. A big consequence of our rainy climate is that we always tend to forget what "shade" is.

Heck, around here sometimes you can't even see the forest for the moss!

Paul said I should have asked him--HE knew what a shade tree mechanic was...
I was thinking more along the lines of "elm wood cabinets" than the quality of them...
As for sun...I'll take Western Washington any time over Eastern for sun and heat...I prefer a nice, misty marine layer!
BEST
