Hi from Chicago

Hi — I saw a Scamp for the first time on the freeway a month ago and have become obsessed with fiberglass trailers. I would like to buy one in the future, but I can't seem to find where in the world to go check them out in person.

I feel like I'm missing the boat on something obvious, but it seems the options are a) go to the factory b) foist myself on an owner in a campsite c) check out a used listing, if one of those ever pops up in the Chicago area. But that seems mean, because I'd like to buy new and I don't want to waste the seller's time.

Do the manufacturers ever exhibit at RV shows? I've been looking and the vendor lists never seem to include the fiberglass trailers!

I'm so far most interested in a 13' Scamp Layout 1 w Big Bed, though I also am looking at the ParkLiner. And the Happier Camper. And the Casita. And the ...

More Options...

You're not missing anything, Naomi. No dealers, no RV shows. They sell factory-direct.

But don't lose heart...

First, a forum member near you may see your post and offer you a look-see. Most of us love to share our trailers and consider ourselves ambassadors. Second, you can visit a fiberglass egg rally near you. See the Rallies section of the forum for a link to the calendar and map. You'll likely see many makes there. Contact event coordinators to set up a visit. Third, the sales department at Scamp can set you up with a nearby owner for a demo through their referral program. The owner gets a small bonus if you purchase, so it's a win-win. Most of the other manufacturers do the same.

Best wishes!

I bought in 2014 and i had two couples visit me so far through scamps referral program. I enjoyed showing and talking about my scamp, very nice people that visited my home. Carl

Sweet. I like the factory referral option. Then I won't feel badly about using up their time. I will also try to get to a rally. Thanks for the info!

Carl, you're so sweet to show them around like that. I had no idea about the referral program, so I will definitely look into that! Thank you!

Naomi, don't be afraid to approach someone in a campground. Like Jon said, most of us are very willing to show and share information about our campers.

Naomi,

I'm in Calumet City if you'd like to see a 2014-17' Casita Spirit Deluxe.

Last year in Elkmont CG, GSMNP, Laura and I did no less than 21 tours of our Little Joe. The tour takes less time than the description of all the features. I think I'm print a handout and make it self guided.

It's all part of the adventure right.

Thank you

Thank you for your kind offer, Deb. Could I ask you what your tow vehicle is?
