Hi from eastern Oregon

Hi, I'm Donna from Baker City, Oregon.

I'm 73 years old and traveling alone in my new Escape trailer. Looking to go somewhere warm for the winter. Any ideas of where to hang out in So. CA or AZ?

Anyone going there during the winter? It'd be fun to meet up.

Hey Donna, welcome!
Don't know what type of stay you plan on but have stayed here with our boler for months at a time. Not cheap but reasonable for SoCal if you book a month at a time.

Welcome Donna!
I plan on going to this event in January:
Cheap RV Living.com-Gatherings

If you go there let me know, I'll look for you.

One of the places I always try to go each year is the Quartzsite Gathering at Dome Rock in early February each year. Usually over 100 trailers, mostly Casitas, and advertised on their web site as well as the fiberglas RV site. More Big Foots and Escapes lately, and many of the lesser known brands. Acres of free BLM land as well as RV parks in town and acres of swap meet and sales areas. In the last few years the old lean-to and fabric shelters are giving way to more modern metal buildings ,stores and service stations. Because of this there are more new houses in the N E part of town, some for year-around use and some with tall RV garages . By the second week in February some of the vendors are pulling out, heading home or for swap meets farther East or North. There is a lot of nice BLM land and some State Parks north along the Colorado River as far as Needles ,CA. And Needles, Oatman and Kingman AZ is where some of the best parts of Route 66 start . Or from Quartzsite south there is lots to see around Yuma, AZ or the Salton Sea , including the (in)famous Slab City at Niland. Generally good weather, moderate prices and lots to see ! See you there ? (Scamp ) David, from Fresno and Sonora

We still work and are new to the snowbird concept, but we passed through Quartzsite last year and it's a total trip! Definitely worth checking out. I don't know that I'd be interested in staying there a whole winter, but it's quite a concept. Their bookstore's owner is a nudist and just wears a little cozy... he isn't an exhibitionist or creepy at all, just doesn't like the feel of clothes! We really enjoyed talking to him.

We live in Salem and around Christmas head for Death Valley for a few days, then on to AZ or southern CA usually to National Parks. After wandering around all of January we head back to Death Valley. Hang out there for at least a month, the work our way back north.
A good resource in Ultimate Campgrounds
The above link takes you to their map and lists many many campgrounds and dispersed sites throughout the US and Canada.

welcome donna

welcome donna to the best site on the net! I mean that truly! Some very interesting comments about Quartzite in doing a search they have reasonable camping places also.

Since we have no bathroom and I will not haul water anyway we will stay there. sort of interested in chasing down things for sale also.

we plan to be there in Feb.

bob and barbara
