Hi from San Francisco Cal

Today I bought a teardrop American molded teardrop. It's a project! Would be interested in hearing from anyone else that has one of these little gems. As soon as I get some pictures I will post them.

I lived it cause it was very unique.... everyone wanted to look inside especially w/ the hull wing doors

Welcome, Scott!

Those are very rare. Don’t recall a recent post by an active member, but you might try searching old threads (“Site Search/Google” at the bottom of the search menu give best results). If you turn up an owner, you can click their username and navigate to their profile to find out if they’ve been active recently and reach out with a message and/or e-mail.

Hope you’ll share some pictures now and as your project progresses. Best wishes!

Welcome! Hope you can post some pictures. It will be fun to follow the project. I had thought about something like this, but wife can't do close spaces.

Gordon yes that's exactly what I got. I'm working on restoring it.the pod is off the frame. The frame has been painted and new suspension parts ordered and in transit. The pod has been stripped down. Sanding and removal of previous owner add-ons has started.
Originally I thought it was fiberglass but it's actually polyethylene. The paint choices I have run across on the net include krylon fusion rattle can paint or acrylic paint. Would love to hear anybody's opinions or experiences on painting polyethylene. Evidently it doesn't like to hold onto paint very well, similar to painting a kayak.
I haven't figured out the adding photos yet but when I do I do have photos.

Hi
I too have a teardrop American. It turned out to be too small for these ol bones. Now have a bigger trailer. I have pictures of mine. I would like to sell it. Its in the way. Plastic body parts are, I think, no longer available. The few spare pieces that I found were destroyed by a veey big wild fire several years ago.
You have picked a FUN project!!
