Hi from SW Virginia

So glad to be here! We have had a 16' Scamp for about 10 years, but just purchased a 19' ...which we haven't picked up yet. I have a few questions, hope it's okay to ask here. Our electrical plug in is on the bumper of our truck, and I'm trying to find out if I can plug the 5th wheel into the outlet on the bumper, or do we need to move it to the bed? Thanks in advance for your help! If it makes any difference, the 5th wheel is a 2002.

Welcome
The 5ers are set up for a bumper 7 pin RV connection. If it comes unplugged it will drag the ground. I used a bungee cord to suspend the cord from the bottom the deck above the truck power plug. This was to allow slack for turns but keep the plug off the ground if it disconnected.

Thanks Eddie. That is what we have, so I guess we're good to go. Can't wait to pick it up!

Eddie is correct but just wanted to add that a number of my 5th wheel buds have spliced the TV line behind the bumper plug to add a secondary 7 pin plug in the truck bed. Most also use a bungie to keep the cord clear of the moving parts. Both ways work but they found the bed mount easier for them. Enjoy the new rig.

Thank you Dave! At this point, all I want to be able to do is tow it home from KY to VA. If we have the plug-in on the bumper, I'm hoping we can do that. The owner is going to send me pics, so hopefully we'll be able to figure it out. I appreciate your and Eddie's responses!

We bought a short extension cord that plugs into the bumper plug, fits under the tailgate and has a 7 pin connector in the bed of the truck. Problem of road gators knocking plug out and having it drag on ground (which happens more often than you might think) fixed. Enjoy your new to you 5er.
