Hi I am Art, and I am picking up a Casita Spirit down in Texas this April. Really appreciated the forum and have enjoyed reading about issues regarding these egg campers. Currently camping out of a homemade Tear drop that I've been using in Cold weather. As we get older our needs change. I wanted a bathroom that nobody's piggys go on but my own and my dogs are going to be on. Thought at first I'd like to buy a used unit but have discovered in many cases, used ones cost more than new ones. Figured since I am expecting this to be my last camper I'd just as well have a new one for less money. Besides I've never been to Texas and am looking forward to the trip. I want to maybe hit the gulf before making my way back north to Pennsylvania.

I did a 13 state loop last year and went down to Houston to visit a friend. We went to Galveston one day and it was great to dip my toes (and ankles) in the Gulf of Mexico. The water was quite warm, unlike the Pacific I'm used to.
I did drive by the Casita factory, but they were closed due to a holiday, so I just waved as I drove by.

Good move Art. We have a vintage teardrop, but our main camper now is a Casita SD17 that we bought used from friends who gave us a great deal. We have camped on the Gulf at Henderson Beach state park in Florida. Have heard that Gulf State Park in Alabama is nice and also Fort Pickens in Florida. What will you be towing your Casita with?
Welcome Art! We shopped used for over a year but couldn't find what we wanted so we went new as well. Have fun shopping and hope to see you around the campgrounds soon!
Welcome Art, wife and I are planning our first long trip in our Casita next summer after I host the Spring Fling in New England Rally.
Maybe you could come up to Chocorua NH on May 16-19 for the rally.
It is a great time and if we get just 10 more sites reserved we get 50% off.
Go to Rally and Meets, forum to see details for Spring Fling n New England.
