Hi, I am Bruce from Skull Valley Arizona

Yes.. there really is a Skull Valley Arizona. However it's pretty and green unlike the name implies.
Anyway, I have a 2002 Scamp 5th wheel deluxe with an Atwood G6A-7 (6 gal) propane water heater. It chortles, pops and then sounds like a small jet engine. Really quite embarrassing of a quiet evening. High or low altitude makes no difference. I tried adjusting the slip vent on the burner tube but have not been able to get rid of the problem. Any good ideas out there in FG land?
Baffled by the baffles in AZ.

No idea about the water heater, but I enjoyed your post! Welcome, Bruce.

I thought that was normal for gas hot water heaters. I've close to many RVs that sound just like you describe. Think I'll continue using the old fashion hot water heater, pot on the stove.

tape?

I had the same problem...became really loud with a huge flame....looking at it one day I put my finger over one of the air intake holes....noise went right down and got a much "tamer" flame.....so I cut a length/shape of electrical tape and covered one of the fresh air holes/openings...permanently, sorta

I know, I KNOW....it's all wrong, the whole thing's about to blow up with me in it.....I'm ganna DIE...LOL

I wasn't aware that there was another Scamp 5'er deluxe so close. I'm up in Prescott. As to the noise of your water heater I have found the same thing, only when the flame is on to heat the water. It does heat quickly, and have found that it will stay hot until the evening dishes. Because of this I only light it in the mornings before breakfast and when it cycles off I turn it off. if you would like to compare notes, PM me and I will send you my phone number.

My wife and I drive through Skull Valley often heading down the hill. Continue to have fun with your trailer
