Hi I’m Zac

Hi everyone just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Zac I’m located in Ontario Canada and I own a 1978 Surf-side. The previous owner stripped it down so it needs some work.... I’ll post a few pictures.
The weather has just warmed up so I can get to work on it... I’ll post as I go along.

This is my to do list...
1) Reseal windows, replace all old broken gaskets and all the cranks.
2) install a larger 3 way fridge.
3) install furnace I picked up.
4) install the kitchen in the front.

So lots to do but I’m in no rush.... here’s a few pictures of the trailer as I got it. Sorry actually it keeps saying I have no photos on my device... I’ll log out and try to upload some more later

Zac......

Welcome to this fiberglass clan. Thanks for posting all the photos....
it certainly appears that you have a well-preserved '78 to work with! You can't
see me wince.....but I'm on a jaunt in sunny Florida, and the sight of that snow
around your Surf-side just reminded me I'll soon return Northward.

I'm sure you'll have great times with your new-to-you magic carpet once you
get it on the road. You can plan some trips now.......

Hope to meet you somewhere down the road.

Frank

Ok so I’ve been working away on the windows ...l re-sealing and replacing all the weatherstripping. But my door latch has been driving me crazy.... as I was towing it home the door latch kept popping open. The original latch was worn right away so any little bump and that was it..... I thought I’d post how I fixed it. To buy the parts is near impossible... I think it would be cheaper if they were made of gold.

So I took the latch and ground it flat then drilled and tapped a bolt in the end. I then found a piece of flat stock metal and attached it on the end with the bolt, I used stud and bearing mount loctite to secure it. Then I ground it down to the rough size. Here’s a picture.... works great and cost me nothing because I had everything kicking around.

Ok things are coming along quite well. All windows re-sealed, new vent, filled all the holes the previous owner put in the roof to tie his kayaks down. Replaced wheel bearings and drums, re-wired everything. Started to repair the inside but ended up tearing it all out till just a shell and then rebuilt it. Started with one piece vinyl flooring.

Here’s a few pictures I’ll try to explain what I did as I go, any questions just ask.
1st picture is thru the door. You can see the larger fridge I installed and larger stove. Moved the sink to the front, to the right of the sink you can see cupboard that contains the porta potty. The counter top flips up and I’m going to build a fibreglass shower pan. The idea being pull out your porta potty flip up counter and have a shower. I’ll try to get a picture with it set up for shower.

Here’s the closet I built and the rear cupboard. I put this in because the roof was sagging and I wanted to reinforce it. So I jacked it up and built the cupboard to fit. I did the same with the closet and fridge cupboard .... Jack it up then install the sides. I also installed a large water tank on the closet side, electric pump and hot water heater.Click image for larger version

Hi Everyone
I here's where I am at so far. I thought i'd just post a video with a walk around of my trailer, it was quite hard to describe what I did.
Please let me know what you think and how I can make it better. All ideas welcome!
Zac
