Hi, I want to be a Scamp owner!

I have been a visitor to this forum for years and, now I'm ready to find my Scamp. I am in the market for a used or newer Scamp 13 with the shower and toilet. I have been searching all the outlets I know of and have found a few but the distance, Alaska and Ontario, are a bit out of my reach. I know this is a very desirable configuration since there are so few available. Help me out with my search so I can practice my retirement travel plans a few years before I get to travel at my leisure.

Michael, welcome to the forum. These units can be hard to find on the East coast and don't usually last very long. Search, search, and search some more. When you find one; don't wait long to decide because it will go fast. Good luck.

How about this one in Indiana. That shouldn't be too far for you.

What is good price for a 2008 Scamp 13 with the shower and toilet no AC and only two owners, always stored inside?

This looks good if it's legit. A bit of a ways for you though.
Cheaper than the Indiana one too.

I have tried to contact through the craigslist acct and offered more than the asking price. I haven't heard from them yet. It is really nice. I would take time off from work to get this one.

If they want to ship it it's a scam. Don't do anything unless you can do it in person and pick it up.

I hope you have actually been inside a 13' FGRV with a bath/shower combo. They are rare, perhaps because they aren't as popular as one may think. Bottom line, they are very crowded and it's almost always mandatory to convert the bed back to a dinette every day. With the front couch this isn't always necessary.

But, as far as price, that's a tough one. We sold our 2004 13' Scamp/with loo, last year for just over $10k in California. In addition, condition is everything.

With larger Casita's available for under 10k right now, except on the west coast, I would price Scamps at something below that number.

Sooooo, I would say that something around $6500 is a "good" price, but you might not be able to find one for that price, not at least until mid winter.

Be sure to remind the seller that the season is OVER, and prices will fall on a daily basis as the cold/wet weather starts.

Buyers Tip #284: Offering over the asking price, sight unseen, is also a red flag to a seller as most will think that only scammers do that sort of thing. Might be better to just start with the asking price, after all, that's what they are looking for...

I'll keep that in mind on the next one I find. I have an appointment to see a 13' FGRV in the morning.

Keep your eye on fiberglass-rv-4sale.com if you havent already found that site.

Im going to suggest that you may have to be wait a bit until the summer hot market for trailers is over to find one. The lack of 13' with bath rooms has more to do with not that many are ordering new rather than demand, as people often decide to order them with a porta potty only due to how much space the bathroom/show takes up.

Not to mention the cost, as well as the additional tongue weight issues.

As "papaT' stated, these units are hard to find. I fell upon mine one day and went to see it the next. Owner at that time wouldn't budge on asking price. Since nothing else was available in Fl, I gave a deposit and came back in a couple of days with the rest of the cash. Scamps are few and far between. You see one, in at least Fl. you jump on it.

Thanks for all the advice!

I went to see an FGRV this morning but I did not have my check list yet. I will do better next time. The search is on. I have found a few more ads and will be trying to contact owners this next week.

Michael,There is a 13 foot Scamp on EBAY and it's located in North Carolina. It is a 1996 model and looks to be in very good condition and it also has a buy it now price of 6895.00 if you don't want to bid. Bids are at $4,100.00 and there are still a few days of bidding left.
