Hi, Jeanette from San Diego

I have spent weeks researching the site to find out information on my trailer.
I traded leftover construction materials for a 13 ft trailer that was used as a tool storage unit. In neglected condition and had to go asap. My lucky day!
This site is a fantastic resource. I have discovered I now have a Trailswest Campster 1970.
As it pulled up driveway a tire blew out. No body damage.
First step DMV, 5 hours ugh. Get appointment next time.
I replaced tires and begun clean out, and accessing the condition.
I have remodeled a few older homes so i don't feel overwhelmed by the job.
Taking my time, don't want to rush and make regrettable decisions.
Step 2, vac out rat droppings, test electrical.
Will continue to update my progress.

"Getting rid of" the old tires and the rat droppings sound like two of the most important steps you could take at this stage. I really admire those trailers with the pop-tops. Good luck and keep us posted!

We have a Trailswest Campster up north here, also a 1970. I'm interested to know your serial number and state on the plate next to the door. I believe mine was gutted and rebuilt, sort of like the original plan. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Also read K Corbin's thread. She provides a lot of insites and expertise.

Welcome, I am also renovating a Campster that spent many years being a storage shed. Mine was in pretty rough shape, cabinets were badly damaged so went into the trash. The carpet on the walls was so full of mildew it also went into the trash.

I don't work on it during the winter, too wet in Seattle. But I will be back at it within a few weeks once the days hit 50 degrees + for a daytime high.

Welcome to FGRV!

The Trailswest Campsters are admirable, best wishes on your renovations! You'll really know what it's all about when you're finished.

BEST
Kai

Welcome Jeanette
The good thing about these trailers is they are small. Things get done fairly quickly. Just do one thing and before you know it your on to the next.
It is a bit of a job but just keep at it. Totally rebuilding my 13' Ventura. 90% done.
GOOD LUCK, Go and Enjoy
