I am looking at a 1995 Scamp 19 foot 5er. my wife and i enjoy winter camping here in east TN and I was concerned about the insulation in the walls of these FG scampers ? I know the newer ones are insulated with the silver sheets of bubble wrap. But I have not read about the older ones, like the 1995 I'm looking at. We have had motorhomes in the past that were well insulated and we often camped in 20 - 25 degree weather. What are your thoughts on cold weather camping? Well thats cold here in the south. I love the site!

Welcome Gary, I think you will find the foil/bubble insulation covered what we like to call rat fur (actually a marine headliner) on all Scamps built 1987 onwards perhaps even 1986. My 1992 for example has the same insulation/covering as a 2013 Scamp.

Thats good to hear . I think the reflectixs is supposed to be better than the other material they used. I am sure I would find the Scamp 19 perfect for our camping needs but my wife is yet to be convinced! So we are still looking. Thanks!

I have the ensolite in my 19' '84. I have two electric heaters, one is an electric "fireplace" with no thermostat, the other is thermostat controlled. At 30*, with only the fireplace one running on the lowest setting, it cooked us out, and we had to switch to the thermostat controlled one. I set the fireplace on low, and the thermostat one on 65, and worked in a t-shirt in it, during temps in the teens.

I wouldn't worry about wall covering.

We are from northwest Florida. Last year we took a tour of the west got caught in snowstorms in Washington State and Montana. We only used a electric oil tank (radiator) type htr. Never got cold. This year we took off in march and did the east up to Niagra falls did not take htr and had no problems. The 5eris very comfortable for us with insulation it has.
