Hi All. I am Tom from Seattle. I've been lurking here for sometime. You are all such a great community -- so helpful and supportive.

I'm glad to be on board. I don't have an RV, I am still tent camping. But I have my eye on a newer Trillium 4500 with either a corner bath or front wet bath.

Hi Tom, Welcome, I'm new here myself. My wife and I have ordered a 13' Scamp and will pick it up in August. Just down the road from you in the Olympia area. Looking forward to being able to camp during our rainy season on the coast. We have been looking for a couple years and settled on a Scamp. I was in Backus, MN this last month, toured the factory and ordered one. About a 2 month wait.

So Dave may I ask how you came to your decision? Was it cost or features or something else? Anything you'd like to share is appreciated.

I like the Trilliums. They just have that super cute look. Yep -- cute!

My one concern is the interior height. I believe the Scamp may be only 1/2" taller but that's significant as I'm 6'0" tall.

Welcome to FGRV. I am just under 6' tall and I fit fine in our Trillium. But then one does not stand up in trailers. You enter the door, take a couple of steps and then sit or lie down.

I take that back. I do stand when cooking at the stove (as little as possible) and also doing the dishes at the sink (also as little as possible).

I can touch the ceiling, (overhead?) when I stand just inside the door under the lower part of the roof. In the main salon, I have no problem.

Actually, my biggest problem is that the sink is too low.

Hi Tom,
We have been camping with a small (no kitchen etc.) Rockwood Tent Camper for the last 20 years, and have been pulling it with several small vehicles. Our current TV is a 2007 Subaru Outback. It has max towing capacity of 2700 lbs. and hitch weight of 200 lbs. So in looking for a new camper, weight was probably one of my most important concerns. Quick set up during rainy weather was the main reason for the change. We started looking a couple years ago when we saw a Casita while camping at Ft. Steven in Oregon. Then we thought that the Chalet solution would work, but most all of those were too heavy and still not as waterproof as we wanted. I did not check out many of the fiberglass campers, but thought that the Scamps were well made, and not as expensive as some that I saw. I visit Wisconsin at least once a year and going to Backus fit into my travel plans. Good luck in your search.
