Hi, We are Chris and Mia

We just bought our first camper.....It is a 1977 Scamp and it needs alot of work. I told my husband we should tear out the old ensolite, but he does not think that
is such a good idea. It is really rotten behind there. I cant imagine it would be cleanable. We live in St. Louis County Missouri. Look forward to hearing what everyone has to say.

Hi Chris and Mia, welcome to FiberglassRV

I'm one of those folks that believes in starting simple (and cheap) and moving to harder and more expensive.

So... what makes you believe there's something "rotten" behind the ensolite? If what you see on the surface... that can be cleaned successfully! And cheaply. Removing the ensolite and trying to replace it will be expensive and a whole bunch of work...

Pictures?

Ensolite is worth saving. It is synthetic, so it doesn’t rot. Even if it is pulling away form the fibreglass, it can be saved. Search this site for ensolite. There is lots of information.

!977 Scamp

You didn't mention whether you ahve a Scamp 13 or 16.

Our son has a 1977 Scamp 13 and I have done a considerable amount of work on it. It's amazing how those little rigs stand up and can be cleaned up.

This year we Red Maxxed the outside and now it's shiny white again.
