Hi: Richard T...Escape builds a wonderful line of trailers. Yes they're far off...but worth the trip as they will do custom mods to better suit your needs.

I towed the Escape with my new (550 miles) Toyota FJ cruiser- 17 mpg!!!!
I will check that again on the return trip.
