Hopeful Prospective Fiberglass RV Owner

Hi, my name is Kim. My husband and I live in the Atlanta area. We have done some research and come to the conclusion that a small, molded fiberglass RV is the ideal choice for us and our dachshund, Ernie. I am excited to find this community as I continue to seek out more information and units for sale.

Welcome to the forum, Kim & Co.!

I think most of us here would agree with your conclusion- molded fiberglass trailers are great!

If you haven't already, I'd recommend starting your research by reading the towing section of your vehicle's owner's manual carefully and looking over the data in this thread: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...rld-43010.html. Post #297 links to an Excel spreadsheet you can download and filter by size, brand, etc. These are actual scaled weights of trailers loaded for camping. Manufacturer's dry weights and sellers who quote them can mislead.

You can visit the classified section here and also at Molded Fiberglass Travel Trailers For Sale | Fiberglass RV's For Sale to begin to get an idea what's out there.

And if you have questions, ask away! Best wishes in your "egg hunt"!

Hello Kim! You won't regret it! Try to buy a nice used one. Check Craigslist, that's how I came across mine. Just watch out for scammers! I have a 13 foot Burro and I pulled her all the way from Albuquerque to Yellowstone Park with a 4 cylinder Subaru Forester. She weighs 800 pounds unpacked and dry. Piece of cake to tow. No trailer brakes needed. She tracked and stopped just fine. Anything bigger, you need brakes!

I glazed the brakes on my Subaru Legacy Wagon twice, towing a tent trailer and having to use the brakes more than I wanted to. It was either that or rear-end a semi.
Cost about $300 each time for brake job.
So, you can tow without brakes on the trailer, if you choose. "You can pay me now, or you can pay me later".
