Hey all, I want to post an update. I've been around and reading this site for a while and even posted a few times here and there. I have been thinking about getting a fiberglass trailer for over a year now, and really started looking in May of this year. I finally found one and made a deal on it about 3 weeks ago. Well, the previous owner delivered it to my house today!
The previous owner and his wife are really great people and my wife and I enjoyed meeting them very much. The trailer is a 2000 17' Casita Spirit Deluxe. Its in nice condition and I believe ready to go. I have a few small things that I want to do, but then again doesn't everyone!
I washed it up today and took a couple pictures (attached). The trailer has sat outside most of its life and the exterior is faded and a tad bit chalky. I have a fair amount of detailing experience and will give it a shot polishing it up. The interior seems VERY clean and well kept. We were very happy with the price and SUPER excited to get it.....finally!!!
I have learned a lot of this forum, but I still have a lot to learn as this RVing stuff is new to us. The only other experience we have with RVing or camping was about 20 years ago with a very simple pop up. This Casita is like extreme luxury for us. Ha..ha...
Congratulations Dale and wife! Looks like you got a nice one. So... what mods are you considering and where is the first place you're going to go camping? (Don't forget the camera! )

Thanks Donna and Mike!!
Donna as far as mods go, not sure yet but I'm sure there will be a few. The 1st thing that comes to mind is figuring out a way to quit hitting my head on the way out the door. I had only owned the trailer for about 3 hours and had made about 10 trips in and out, of those I think I hit my head about 5 times. That's 50% of the time! Slow learner huh? LOL I'll be looking forward to making through a whole camping trip w/o hitting my noggin! And I'm really not that tall.
First trips??? We are thinking about going to Lake Havasu the week after Christmas for a day or two. Would like to see the Christmas lights under the London Bridge, we've heard its nice.

In a word: Pool Noodle
The hole in the middle is 3/4". Get a 3/4" dowel and cut it to length to fit between the closet and the refrigerator/microwave cabinet. I cut my noodle for the door width (2') but if I were to do it over again, I'd make the full length of the dowel. Make a sleeve out of curtain fabric, a basic tube. slip the noodle into the sleeve, and over the dowel. Tuck the ends of the sleeve in around the dowel. Attach the ends of the dowel from the inside of the closet and the microwave cabinet. The duckie applique came from a store specializing in kid friendly bath stuff. Use 3M VHB tape to mount it.
Hi: DaleAZ... Here's some great stuff that really took care of a mild case of chaulky roof and total trailer detailing. Meguires 50 Marine RV One Step is the best stuff I've ever used and avail on line in a 1 gal. size too!!!
Alf S. North shore of Lake Erie P.S. Your Casita's looking good already!!!
Frederick,
Thanks for the suggestion and detail. I'm going to do that. I did "play" with the trailer more yesterday and made it all day with only "brushing" my head on the doorway once. No hard knocks for the day. We did have a couple family members stop by to see the newly acquired trailer and we cautioned them to watch there head going in and out.
Hey Alf S.
Thanks for the suggestion on wax. I have been doing some reading and considering several products, I will include this one in my search. Next week I'm going to start looking at the finish a little closer. I have several Meguires polishing products at home and may try some of those in a inconspicuous spot to see if they work. I think Meguires makes good products. I have also been reading about the Poly glow type processes.
Hi: Dale AZ... Hope you had a great Christmas!!! We had a few "Turkeys" show up... but not till Boxing Day. LoL

Hey Alf S.!!
We had a nice Christmas, thanks for asking. It was a warm one, I think temps were in the upper 60's and it was sunny. We ate Christmas dinner in the dinning room, but with the door to the patio open, it was nice out. A little warmer looking than your picture.
We had plans of leaving tomorrow morning for our 1st little trip in our new to us Casita, but now the forecast is for rain the 2 days we were planning on being out. So, I think we'll wait for another time.
Love the turkeys in the snow shot! Hope your Christmas was grand too!
