just a newbie LOVING rv stuff ;)

Hi, im Jill, A 67 year old lady whos always loved (obsessed somewhat) with trailer, van, rv type living. I do live in a stick house and would be somewhat happy with just having my own mini home sitting right out my window. Im just going to enjoy watching all of you really do this, and see what comes of it thanks for the add.. And happy travels to those of you who actually do it

Welcome, Jill!

Beware- molded fiberglass is highly addictive. You may wind up with a small egg trailer in your driveway before you know what happened!

Seriously, there's a lot of good information here, whatever direction your travels take you. My mom started solo RVing at 60 after my father passed, and just recently decided to pack it in at 91.

Best wishes!

As I have gotten older I have realized how short life is. I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon when I was 18. I wanted a rematch at 40, but life got in the way. 40 became 50, then 60, and so on. So last year I finally did it.

So if you have been dreaming about a camper for years and years, do it now. Of course do some research. You may love it you may hate it, but we all only get one time through here.

just jill,

YES! Most of the time, our "Peanut" (one shell with two nuts in it) lives in the driveway, doing duty as Paul's fresh-air man cave. He reads out there, makes himself coffee and small snacks, and visits with passing neighbors while keeping an eye on the territory.

We enjoy it every bit as much in the driveway as on the road or in campgrounds...didn't expect that. I go out sometimes for a quiet nap away from phones and our dogs.

I love bulldogs as well as pugs. Haven't owned ones but the videos on YouTube of bulldog puppies make me long for one.

P.S. if (when!) you find your special egg and if you can, we love photos. Including your bulldog.

And “yes “ back at ya “k” This is so good to hear, and I think I can’t even slide it into my third of an acre backyard for a little bit of my own peace and quiet :-) I love hearing this stuff, and I will see how tough it is to send a picture of my Goofie ole bulldog as well :-) j j

Depending on rules and limitations in your community I find a Carolina Carport makes an excellent shelter for a trailer. It really cuts into the wear and tear of constantly being out in the weather.

If you have a carport over your trailer, you can leave the door and windows wide open when you want fresh air even if it's raining like crazy. On the other hand, there's something to be said for just going simple.

The marine enamel paint is UV resistant (so we understand) and in two years seems to be fine so far...and the rain at least washes some of the dust off.

Jill--if you do get a pic of your bulldog on here, I'm going to enjoy it!

BEST

Kathleen

Ok, Hank and Just Jill,

Here are the pug girls:
Nimble at Kanaskat-Palmer State Park, WA, summer, 2016.

Cinder at same. She's 14 this month. Still able to leap onto the furniture.

Both in x-pen we used to take camping with us until this year. It's quite heavy.

Hank is so cute!

Do let us know if you find a trailer you buy! Or even to ask what we think of one you find before you buy it.

What beautiful pups My daughters pug is i think 13 and doing great as well. Has some issues but mostly seems just great. Thanks for sharing,,,,, and as far as trailer........... My latest thoughts are that im looking at "WeRoll" converted cargo trailers. And in the meantime, setting myself up to be able to stay gone a few days in my forester Im really enjoying it all. In my head, im already there.

just jill,

We considered converting a cargo trailer, too, summer of 2015, but after reading FGRV so much and spotting a used Amerigo we decided to go with that. Peanut needed a lot of work, there's a good "buyer's checklist" on FGRV (use the search engine above) before you buy if you get something used.

After a lot of work we were able to camp and enjoy it as we had hoped from the beginning. Haven't heard of WeRoll, wishing you a good hunt and happy finding.
