Looking for a 13 foot Rv

Greetings.
I thought my first post would be the yippee yell of I am a scamp owner. Instead, it is one of help. I started looking for a "stick" RV. I was advised against the small one because it was too much for my 4 cyl vehicle. That was what started me on the Fiberglass path.
As a newbie, I dont want to spend top dollar. This forum has been very informative. I have enjoyed the opinions.
I found what seemed like the perfect scamp for me. Mind you, I hadn't seen one up close. My first draw, but deferred was a 16' Jayco lite. My advisors said it was too big for my vehicle.
I drove 2 1/2 hours to see a 2011 scamp self contained 13'. Listed on Craigslist. Perfect. I text the seller and asked him if I could arrive early since traffic was better than planned. Response was "ok". When I did, his son said he had to leave for an emergency.that was 16 minutes before.
Good for me. I got to see a Scamp in person. It will be perfect for me as I am 5'3.
When I asked about paperwork to see if the asking price was fair,his son gave a stupid look and said it must be in the storage unit.
Is there. Blue book price list for fair value based on the condition and age?

I think the price would all depend on the condition of the scamp. I looked at one that was 6000 and in the same shape as the one I bought ("83") for $800 yesterday. I sold a "80" for 3500 5 years ago that was in great condition. They seem to be going for about 4000-9000 +. I wouldn't pay 9000 unless it looked new. I also think it would be hard for them to say what a fair price was since most have been customized. It all personal opinion. Unfortunately, people sell them for what they think their worth.

There is not a list of blue book values for fiberglass trailers. They tend to command high resale prices compared to stick builts and hold their value. The best thing for you to,do is look at comparable trailers that have sold on

Unfortunately usually if the trailer is priced reasonably it won't last long. Also make sure that the title is in the name of the person selling it, check ID etc - that situation seems a little fishy that you are describing but who knows.
Options like awning, ac, bathroom all add to the price.

There is a 13' here in Carson City, Nv. He's asking 6000 but said he'll consider offers and keeps it stored inside.
I found mine for 800 because I knocked on a guy's door and asked if he'd sell his trailer. Might be worth a try if you see one.

I think I see the one you looked at and at last years prices it would have been around $14000 new so price is in the ball park

I have a Toyota Tacoma 4.7 cyl pickup that I was planning on using.
As far as pricing, I got the price list from the company. Looked at the base and added up the options to give me a ball park price to compare with the used. One of the thing I have found appealing, it seems the fiberglass trailers have higher resale value. That said, I want to give a fair dollar, not pay more only to add cost of unknown repairs.

He was asking 11,400. I was not in excellent shape. The table was cracked the frame around the bathroom door was very marred. He said he was selling it for his father in law who kept it garaged. It MAY have been garaged, but it was very weathered. Given all the inconsistencies, I was uncomfortable. I left wondering if that really was a fair price. Who knows if it really was a 2011?

How does one get information on this trailer?

Sounds like the one you just looked at was maybe overpriced for the condition.

As my search moves on, I can broaden the area. I have family in Wickenburg, Az, Boise, ID, and Seattle, Wa. Of course, I can impose too much, to ask much travel for them. But it does give me options.

It finds all craigslist ads that meet your specs
Distance based on zip code
Mileage
What your looking for ( ie scamp or craigslist)
Beaware of some scams
And take the buyers checklist when you go to look at any trailer
Also i always ask that they run frig a few hours prior to my appt ( they take awhile to cool... And can be expensive)
Look at axle and water intrusion
