LoveBug complete redo

Hi, I am Ann S and am restoring a Love Bug that was used as a darkroom. We are in the process of pulling off paint and plaster, rebuilt floor. Cabinetry is being worked on, the issue seems to be replacing windows (there are none)- the side windows are 21.25 x 25.5, back window 44 x 20 and front window 44 x 19.75. Anyone have any suggestions for replacements?
Thanks so much!

Welcome Ann.

Not sure about the windows but because of how old the trailer is, it's likely you'll have to find something that's ~close~ but will require some fiberglass work to modify the opening to make a good fit. It's doable.

A search of the forum may help with project ideas.

Good luck. Keep posting your progress. It's nice to see the transformation of these little campers.

Thanks Dan. Yes, our backup was exactly that- getting the 22 x 24 horse trailer windows and adding fiberglass, just thought I'd see what was out there.

The front and back windows sit in curved surfaces, so they will take cut-to-size plexiglass windows in a cut-to-length rubber gasket. That's (relatively) easy. You can search old threads on replacing Boler/Scamp front windows for how-to information.

The side windows are as Dan says: find something close and modify the fiberglass to fit. Bigger is better than smaller- cutting is lots easier than adding fiberglass- but not too much bigger or you'll run into cabinets or the curved parts of the shell. Operable glass windows have to be installed on a flat surface.

If you can locate a nearby RV used parts warehouse, take your dimensions and have a look. Check Craigslist as well.

At the Hehr Windows web page you'll find all their currently available sizes. Maybe you'll get lucky.
