New here with a question on Fiberglass treatments

Hello everyone,

I am new here.....obvious I guess since I am posting in the Newbie Forum, lol.
We just bought a Big Foot camper, built 87, in extremly good condition. The people we bought it from even had the original pillows, neckrest, duvet....sooo nice!
We had (actually still have, is for sale right now) a 10 1/2 ft Slumber Queen, which has served us well for 5 years. But it was time to upgrade and now we are the proud owners of a 11 1/2 ft. Big Foot.

So, I already have a question.
What do we use to treat the fiberglass, it shows his age a little. But no cracks or dents etc. I just want to keep it in good shape.

Oh yeah, we are on Vancouver Island and Big Foot campers.....very hard to find.

Hi Petra, welcome to FiberglassRV! Question, is your Bigfoot a truck camper or a towable? I ask because some folks call a trailer.. a camper...

Hello Donna,

it is a truck camper, the ones you piggy back on a truck.
We are 2 adults and this camper is just the right size for us, especially since we do our camping from September until May. We don't camp in the high season since we prefer the quietness and solitude.

Hey Petra. We have a couple of molded fibeglass truck camper owners as member here. Now there's one more!

Alf gave you a good example of a very good wax for fiberglass. But honestly, the best wax is the one you'll use. That sounds strange but some wax is a bear to put on and worse to polish off. Just use a good brand of wax that you'll use a couple of times a year. The best part of a good wax job is that it makes washing and cleaning a lot easier!

Some people in the past year have used a floor polish called Red Max Pro. Easy to apply and shines nicely with two coats. But long term results aren't known yet. The stuff is sold at Lowe's home improvement stores.

Hm, I think I stick with the tried and true stuff, but maybe a couple of years down the road?

Thanks for the info nevertheless!
Now I just hope it starts raining so I can start applying wax.....the camper is under shelter!

Welcome! I am envious of your camper!

You might want to check out the thread on the floor wax before you decide, the results are amazing.

Welcome to the group. In case you cant find Alf's Meguiars 50 I really like the 3M Restore & Wax combo as much as Alf likes the Meguiars. One of things I like about it is I can touch up during the summer with it to quickly remove a black streak from here or there. Don't think you can go wrong with either.

I don't see any bigfoot truck campers in our photo album. I'd love to see one, maybe Mountain can post a few pics for us?

Humm. Unless things have changed... FiberglassRV's focus is molded lightweight towables. Not fiberglass motorhomes and not truck campers. Doesn't mean we don't like those and of course, we LIKE the owners. But its impossible for one forum to be all things to all people... hence the focus.

Yep. We're about trailers. Anyone with an interest in molded fiberglass travel trailers is welcome - and people with molded fiberglass truck campers surely fit that description.

I don't really see us expanding our focus to include the campers, though - we're doing good just keeping up with all the trailers!
