New member hello everyone

Attachment 53005Hi everyone,

My name is Phil my wife and I just purchased our first Scamp 19' fifth wheel. Its a 2001 and I set up my 2005 Tundra V-6 to tow. I used the B&W turnover hitch and I am very pleased with the quality and not having to drill holes in my frame. The 4" hole in my bed was hard to take but hey sometimes you just have to go for it.
We are in Novato Ca about 25 miles North of San Francisco. We took it out to the coast for our first trip the road was really bad we shook up the trailer pretty good. My suburban heater is the first thing to break. Lucky we have the heat strip in the AC.
I really like the help forums, I am a general contractor and this is our 4th RV so I can handle a challenge when it arrives. I look forward to many posts and shared stories.

Phil

Hi Phil, welcome to FiberglassRV!

A number of Scamp 5th wheel owners hang out here, so if you have any questions or concerns, I'm betting someone will step in to help you out!

Hi Phil,
Welcome to the forum. We live in San Anselmo, not far from you. I'm curious to know what were your previous RVs and why did you choose this one? Where do you park your trailer? Because we have no room on our tiny property we park ours in a storage facility/RV yard in American Canyon, about 30 minutes away.
Happy Camping!
Gilda

Hi Gilda,
In the early 90's our first trailer was a 1974 25' Prowler we used up in Lake Almanor while we were building a house up there. We quickly decided to leave the trailer on site and we purchased a 1992 33' Coronado class A motor home to make the runs up to Almanor. Our next was a 1980 25' Airstream Excella that I did extensive work on and we sold that in 2008. We purchased it on Ebay in 2005.
We decided to go with the Scamp because it is light weight and the kids are all grown up and gone. I am fortunate to have a large driveway RV spot. We have a friend in Novato that stores his class A motor home in Novato at an east side storage facility I think its on Olive Drive. Also we have one on Redwood drive and off highway 37 at Green point. Have you been to any of the gatherings?

Best,

Phil
