hi!! i am the newest member so i really don't know what i'm doing yet. i do have a question. my husband and i are seriously considering purchasing a new 16 foot scamp. our problem is that we are both tall and the roof mounted ac is too low inside. we would be bumping our heads all the time. i have ms and cannot tolerate heat well so this whole air conditioning problem is becoming a stickler. does anyone have experience adding a window unit or cutting (ouch) the fiberglass to install a sidewall unit?? thanks, debbie bush

Welcome to FiberglassRV Debbie, we're glad you found us.

If I was looking to install a window AC, I'd consider what Frederick has done. Click this topic:

I have seen several used 16' Scamps with a "window" style unit installed in the bottom of the closet. The installation looks very professional, making me wonder if they were done at the factory?

Have you asked if the factory could do such an installation?

Even if you don't want a roof a/c, it might be a good idea to have your new Scamp built with the reinforced roof anyway. Then you still have a choice if you decide at a later date that ducking isn't so bad...

One of the A/C units that has piqued my interest is a Solar Evaporative Cooler http://www.turbokool.com/

Check out the video.

Evaporative coolers are less effective in humid climates like FL and LA, but are effective in climates like AZ and NM.
