Hi All,
I need some advice. I am having a whale of a time trying to close this deal.
This guy is kind of loopy. He's got this Scamp 5'er, we agreed on a price, but
he hasn't given me the
VIN # to run a
vin check. In fact he gave me the
wrong one- and now he wants me to call him back. I did. He's really got
me hooked on this Scamp 5'er!
He says the
title is in his grandfather's name, on his mother's side. Claims
the guy is slightly senile, in his 90's and he's doing the sale for him. Also-
get this- he's in Kansas City for the holidays? I mean - this IS Florida!
He says the truck they use for pulling it is in the shop- and furthermore, they decided to keep the Scamp 5'er hitch for pulling "other trailers"? I didn't think you could pull any other trailer with a 5'er 2" ball hitch. So rare- only SCAMP sells it!
To top all this off he wants to do the deal and get his cash asap.
He says his Grandfather's brother paid off the remaining amount on the title- 4K. And that he had to reimburse his great uncle out of his own pocket to get the
title free and clear. This is his explanation for being so ancey about the
money. I told him I would meet him at the DMV and he's stomping his feet at me. Getting all blustery about it.
I"m betwixt and between trying to make this deal work. I mean come on.
Strangest part of the story yet is in Florida- you don't need to have a
title signing notarized- the lady on the phone at the DMV here explained you just have to bring in the Title signed and filled out. Then they run it and issue you a
registration and title. Also for this trailer- a
license plate.
Anyone want to tell me how the devil I can make this deal work without having a panic attack. My wife is eyeing me and wondering if I am goofy for not just walking away at this point...
There are more aspects of this story that are strange too.
Any Advice?
Aye Caramba!
