New to Forum, Downsizing

Hi, we gave our 1984 31' Pace Arrow to the kids. We started camping in 1965 with a 13' Shasta, and then a 24' Nomad in 1979. We also tent camp when we don't have a trailer or motor home, but that's not as much fun at our age. Need that bathroom

Our goal now is to find a sixteen foot Casita or Scamp we can take with us when we travel. We usually drive cross country once a year, along with shorter trips. We are also planning to drive to Alaska within a year or two.

I've already found the forums here helpful in re-acqainting myself with things like brake controllers and such. This is a great forum.

Hi Ed, welcome to the site.

Lots of good options for lightweight moulded fiberglass trailers. Other than a bathroom, do you have any other 'must have' items. I know with us, my wife's only other non-negotiable item was a permanent bed. If you know what you will use for a tow vehicle, that may make some difference too.

Happy shopping.

Bathroom a must, a/c desirable. We also like the floor plans with a side dinette, which kind of allows for a "permanent" bed. We'll be towing with a Toyota 4Runner (6 cyl).

Hi Ed, welcome to FiberglassRV. We're glad you're here! There's now several brands that have that floor plan in the 16-17 foot range. I'm sure you'll find just want you want.

Welcome Ed,
You have picked the perfect place to find your new RV and any help you might need with it. I may have to look you up nxt yr while I am doing a family geneology trek that will eventually take me into Virginia.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. We are watching the classifieds here and elsewhere. We're watching for something in our price range within a day's drive or so from Richmond, VA. We'll let you know when we've found one

Welcome

Hi Ed you didn't say if you wanted new or used. The Parkliner is in NC and the Snoozy in SC some weekend trips to check them out could be fun. Ruth

We are looking for an used Casita or Scamp, probably a unit manufactured in the 1990's would be in our price range.

We picked up our '94 Casita 16' Freedom Deluxe yesterday in Missouri. We just got back to Richmond, VA. this evening. Here's a picture of it at a rest stop in WVA

Ed,
I'm a little delayed on the initial response but let me be the first to officially welcome you to the unoffical Molded Fiberglass Trailer Owners Club.
Happy trails.
