Hi,
We have tent trailer and are currently looking to upgrade to a FG. Have my eye on a 1981 Bigfoot 17 foot. So here I am lurking in the shadows reading about all the repairs I will need to make to it if I do buy it.
Thank you for letting me benefit from your wisdom.
Seller says the roof leaks in three places. I am just trying to figure out if the low price is worth the work.... I haven't seen it yet, it is 6 hours away.
Generally roof leaks on any kind of trailer happen where something like a vent, for example, goes through. Doesn't seem like it would be too much of a problem unless there's some sort of damage.
Bigfoot ceiling links can involve some wood. Is it possible to get a couple of good pictures from the seller that you could post here? Folks could give you a better idea of "fixes" if we could see what the problem is.

Good luck on the shopping, and welcome to the group If you decide to pass on this one, keep in mind that there is always something else around the corner!
The pink glue Bigfoot used to laminate the foam to the fibreglass is water soluable. Leaks can lead to delamination and loss of strength. The roof should have a noticable arc to it; if it is flat, renovations may be in order.
I spoke to a few other members on the site and decided to skip on this one. There were just too many little things that bothered me. Not sure the seller was on the up and up. The search continues.....
Going to see a 14' dolphin on Wednesday. Fingers crossed.
Good luck with your decision; and welcome to the forum.
