Our 1980 Trillium 5500. We're thrilled.

Hello everyone. We are Curtis, Vero, William and Victor, and after 6 years and thousands of miles from alaska to california, from victoria to quebec, in a rockwood tent trailer, we celebrated my birthday by gettin a Trillium!

We have always loved looking at eggs while doing our evening stroll around the campgrounds, but we never found an elusive 5500 size (when you have the cash on hand) until now.

She seems solid, but, Like a classic car, I'm sure we will always have a little project to be done on her, and that's what's exciting to me.

We bought her last night towing her home this morning.

Anyone want a steal of a deal on a rockwood? Cause were not looking back.

Towed her home. Got the hotwater, furnace stove and oven fired up, first rain shower.... The bathroom roof vent is leaking like a submarine with a screen door!

Will try the fridge tomorrow.

Hi, Curtis, William, Vero and Victor! That's some big birthday present. Very nice.

We have the twin to that --- an Escape --- and I sometimes wish we had the jalousie windows!

If you show some photos of your leaking area, someone will tell you exactly how to fix it. Shouldn't be that big of a deal since it's the vent. Gee, you are so lucky --- first project!

Thanks guys!

My wife spent the day cleaning out every corner of the trillium, I drilled out the rivets on the ceiling vent and removed it. It's got a lot of little cracks and it's warped around the flange. Shopping for a new one.... Any tips? Should I use the trailer vent putty strips? Silicone? Is there a better brand vent to put in?

Thanks. I will try not to repost the already posted. I will look up the vent repairs.... Or we can fill up my couple acres with trilliums and discuss over a cold one...

Look forward to meeting fellow owners. We are truly excited to get this baby into a campground. It's so different than buying a new rig! Noone wants to discuss your 2007 tent trailer!

DO NOT USE SILICONE! It fails after a few years. Butyl tape, or puddy is considered best. Even Mono Ultra is much better then silicone.

I'd be interested in a steal on a deal for the bag awning if was a Carefree Campout that many Rockwoods had.

Just got back from the first trip! Intimidating being parked next to 16000 pound 5th wheels! Everything went well, ice cream in the freezer remained frozen. But unfortunately when I attempted to empty the grey and black water, the handles to open the valve was broken! So after messing around I managed to empty the black water but still have a full grey water. Any thoughts? Have to replace the valve, should I just cut into the pipe near the valve and let it drain?

Curtis, when you say the handle broke... do you mean just the handle? Can you grab the rod with vice grips?

No don't cut the pipe. The valve body is held on with screws and a gasket (if it's like all the ones I've seen). Does it look like this slide valve and gate: Slide Valve with Gate Seals - Product - Camping World

or do you need the entire assembly Waste Valve Assembly, 3" x 3" that would require cutting the pipe.

Curtis you can just buy the handle or the entire valve at the Garage du Campeur in quebec city ( near colisé Pepsi) a great place for parts
Don.t cut pipe it is just bolt and nut hardware easy to replace
And also it have a big fiberglass meeting at Stoneham 7-8-9 september

Unfortunately, if your Bathroom Roof Vent is 9" x 9" there is only one manufacturer still making them. 9" White Elixir Opaque Vent

The dump-valve handles often come off the threaded stem. Since it is gray water try unbolting the 4 corner bolts that hold the thing together over something to catch it in. After that the valve may need to be lubricated and exercised, or just the gaskets need replacing.

Welcome fellow 5500 folks! Mine is a 1981 and has blue trim. I too had trouble with the grey and black water handles. Fortunately mine just unscrewed and disappeared and I can get replacements easily. The forum will really help you when you need help or advice. Glad you're here!

The bathroom vent on my Burro also leaked and the nes available are crap, so I just eliminated it. I put in a piece of lexan I had at hand and fastened it in permanently using metal roof screws with built-in washers. Then I cut in a solar powered marine vent for air extraction, with the added bonus that the lexan works as a skylight.

Bought a replacement from the local rv place. Gonna instal it and test the seal by scrubbing and washing the roof. With what I will wash it, I'm not sure.
